So I usually drive into the national park side with my yearly pass and park at the north ocean beach parking lot. Will that road be closed or can we still drive there and park there to use the beach? If not, how much is it to park at the state park? Anyone been out there today to find out?

Nat'l park is closed, they will barricade the road or just not let people enter

they(our great gov't)cracked down on Hatteras I.a couple of years ago.You cant really have a good time down there anymore. You've got to pay a fee(i think its $125 that only goes to law enforcement)to drive the beach<have to have a permit to make a beach fire.and you have to be off the beach at 10 or so...no alcohol either.your best to save your money to take a real surf trip without big brother on your back.If you live down there, what a bummer this shutdown must be.

Oh this is because of the Gov. shut down? Why can't people just go to the beach without a government employee being on the clock? Free country HAHAHA

Ya, we're Americans and these are our lands, but only when someone is manning the toll booth! You no pay? Off limits pal, go home!

I'm a firm believer that this isn't going to go on like this much longer. Our government is out of control and getting less and less popular. Could you imagine how shamed our fore fathers would be today. This is exactly what they fought to be free from.

Totally> We surf on our own anyway. Certainly dont need them around. They act miserable all the time anyway. And this is why we have to pay taxes?

I'm trying to find the story.... I just heard on the radio some old war vets stormed some national memorial because it was closed down.

When you on a surf trip to another country do they charge you to go to the beach? Do they hand you a booklet full of rules and regulations? Do they make you get out of the water if its thundering? Do they make you get out of the water if the waves or conditions are too big? Do they tell you that you have to leave at sunset?

Only here in the good ol free USA!

By the way, what the hell are we free from?

I think the only way for us to send a message and get new faces in there is to refuse to vote for anybody they list on ANY of the ballots. Don't vote for anybody THEY have appointed. Right now, as it is, you get to choose poo in one hand or pee in the other. Rather than accept that, lets all do "write ins" for every position. Vote for regular guys / gals, someone that isn't part of the system already. This would only work if EVERYBODY was on board though.

If that's not an option then NOBODY should show up to vote, nobody. Boycott it all together, refuse to contribute to campaigns, don't support any of it. That probably wouldn't get anybody new in there so If that doesn't work, then we should all just meet in DC and go White House Down on that a$$!!!! Sick of the morons in power, all they do is pass the torch to the next clone in line. When are we as a country going to stand up and say enough is enough and get sh*t done the old fashioned way. I'm all for a revolution, i'm bored anyways.

the problem is as much the fact that they people are completely split and there seems to be no way to fix that. it would probably be best just to split the country in two.
