So my friend and I want to go to assateague at like 6 am on saturday. I know they don't open until 9, but can we park outside the parking lot or something tight? does anyone know/ has anyone done this before?

Just park at the visitors center, walk across the bridge and then into the park

If you're gonna be camping there then why do you need a surf report? Just wake up, grab your board and go surf.

My folks ran the camp store in the State Park for several years (man, do I miss the post-surf free scrapple, egg & cheese on rye sandwiches!), so I've spent a lot of time there. Make the right just before the entrance to the parking lot where the camp store is, it's called Campground Road I think. It will bend around to the left a little and open up onto another parking lot. That lot usually has big campers in it. Go to the far left corner of that parking lot and you'll be within spitting distance of the State Park camp store. You can park there for a while, until the parking lot opens. I've even stayed there all day without a problem. Supposed to be decent surf on Saturday, too! Enjoy!

Your not allowed to park in the camp lot and will get a ticket for sure. There are rangers and State Police patrolling 24/7 to stop people sneaking in early. They log every vehicle that is in that lot and check for appropriate passes the night before, if there are any in there in the morning that don't belong you get a ticket. I know a bunch of people who tried that a few weeks ago and they were on them within minutes of pulling up.
