like you heard, the storms last fall made a mess of it. Washed out the nice shallow bottom we had last year and now its deep. Waves under chest high back off/mushy. Ive only checked the federal and state beaches...cant say what happend in the 4wd areas.
Dawn that sucks..... i guess im gonna try for the off road permit when i get down there. maybe ill find atleast a little something if i do a little cruisen down the beach. Do u guys know if you can get a permit on the spot at the ranger station? Hey worst comes to worst ill have my dog and my fiance with me so it shouldn't be terribly bad if i cant get wet.lol Hey thanks for the info guys. Its nice to acctually be able to talk about a spot and get real feedback.
yes, you can get a permit at the ranger station you do realize rangers are on this forum though....mentioning that you're bringing green...unless you mean cash of course...isn't the wisest idea

A year's offroad pass is ninety bucks. no day or week passes available. you get the pass at the ranger station. i think they open at 8am. make sure you have: a shovel, a jack, a board to set the jack on, tire gauges, and heavy duty tow straps on board. the rangers have been searching trucks on the beach, and if the safety equipment is missing, the driver gets a $125 ticket. this happened to my buddy a couple of weeks ago while surfing that last nice swell. nice way to end a great session, huh? don't forget the sunscreen and industrial-strength bug spray. even if the surf is suckola, there are still lots of things to see (and photograph) down there.
nice thanks mikey. i got all the recovery stuff situated so i should be good to go! I cant wait to get down there. What would u suggest for surf if theres any? head south?
I was at the Teague last Saturday. Flat, all up & down the off-road portion. Still great to be out there, though. Totally cool place, even with those Jurassic Park-sized horse flies that can take a pint of blood outta ya pretty quick. The Over Sand permit adds $ 30.00 to the $ 90.00 base permit for daytime use of the park. Total $ 120.00, cash or plastic. A real jewel: the Teague.
dude take a surf rod, if its flat go fishing, buddy of mine is catching strippers and flounder. you might have yourself some dinner.
