Depending on what days your there. Drinking: borgata for mur mur monday Caesers for dusk tuesdays harrahs for the pool on wed Showboat on Thursday at the foundation room Any of the above on a fri or saturday. (Casbah in the trump next to showboat is fun also) Strip clubs: The playground ( kinda skethy, its on pacific, so anyone can get in there) Delilahs Den (outside of AC in Pville, ask for the hot seat) Lace Hotels with surf nearby: Resorts Showboat Not positive, but the closest surf shop might be heritage in margate, good luck renting anything other than a softy. Ill sell you a UM quad with a little nose damage for $150
Last time I surfed Brigantine I had no flesh left thanks to the green heads. No wonder why everyone wears a full hooded suit with boots and gloves in August. Ha-Ha
Heritage in Margate (609) 823-3331 will rent you a nice board. Its a short distance from AC. Hopefully your girl surfs or likes to hang out at the beach. If not getting out will get harder and harder. I'm lucky, my wifes pretty cool and does not bug me. Alot of my friends who are married need a hall pass to get out for an hour or two. Get all that stuff straight right from the beginning. Congrats and good luck.
Can't help you out with the surfing part in ac because i have never surfed there, but as far as nightlife goes, I personally like Tropicana because it has a ton of different bars. I'm not sure what you are into, but there is a sports bar, club, Irish pub, hooters, fire water, martini bar, karaoke bar, and I think a comedy club. Now matter what you are into, everything is pretty much less than a 10 minute cab ride in ac.
Dam good sports bar in the trop is not a bad place to start as well considering they have 5 dollar 40oz beers...... best deal in ac if you like drinking.... and they have decent 40 oz selection.... not like your getting colt 45 or busch light
thanks. Well, my fiance and I moved to San Diego 8 years ago, specifically for me to surf =) not to mention all of the other obviously pluses of living in sd. I have surfed everyday since I moved here basically. I used to be a complete as$ about it and surf all day for 6 hours on our day off if it was good etc. Now, I just handle my business early, get in the water before 8 and make sure it doesn't interfere with the rest of our day. We do days at the beach sometimes. I took her to baja like 1000 times to film and stuff. So, she is really cool about everything. The only problem is that she wants to move back east =) Which is why im always hanging around in the midatlantic forum, cause we are from the OC MD area. So, i see my surfing time going down quite a bit sometime in the near future, but she knows that I will only move to the coast back east. I wont be able to surf as much due to swell issues, but when the swells come, I will not miss a beat... Its the sircle of life i suppose. But being married wont interfere. I have been living the married live with her for many years, its just gonna be official. But once we marry, I will have to compromise and do something hasty like move back to a beachtown in the mid atlantic... Both of our familes are all within the MD/DC/VA area, so its really inevitable. We fly back east like 5 times a year. Its just too much.
When we go down its usually caesars.Good restaurants in the mall.Borgata is ok.Havent been to the trop since it was the old trop.Im not crazy about the Showboat and Harrahs even thou we get free rooms.
Those of us who surf AC every swell, really are not about to give up the details so easily. Lets just say if you put the work in you will find what you are looking for. AC is fickle. Yet is very rewarding when you know where to look when the swell and conditions come together. Sorry I cant help, did that once, and I got chewed out hard. (understandably) Also we only have a few breaks that work for only certain swells and such, hence we flock to one break. Resulting in crowds. Plus we have all the Stockton students.
Yeah I will agree with knowledge of the area is key cause it can be hit or miss in AC . Thats why I said OC cause it not so hit or miss. But the era of secret spots are gone . Surfline has made "maps" to all the Populare breaks that the tell you when its best to go . It kinda takes the fun out of looking for surf
I will respect FrankShreds comment about giving out specifics on any places, but AC the place to stay for the nightlife and a chance to surf. Just to give you a heads up there are no hotels or motels in Ventnor or Margate, I know because I've lived in both. The other options is OC but as mention it is a dry town so you will have to roll the dice with driving to bars. All the bars on Absecon Island where Margate, Ventnor, and AC are generally open from 8:00 am to 4:am or others are just open 24/7 and you can cab it anywhere on the island. As far as the surf, I've been going there since the early 90's and IMO it was in it's prime back then and before. Years later like a lot of jersey's good breaks I think the wave quality suffered to a degree from beach replenishments. I will say the place loves a solid SE ground swell and will tend to be a little bigger with more juice than other surrounding areas due to a submarine trough right offshore. It is one of the few places in NJ that can hold real big swells.
No one mentioned the taj mahal. It is a mix between older and younger crowd, but def more on the older crowd compared to Trop, Borgata, and Harrahs. Which makes it not the best for night life, but you can easily take cabs to the other clubs and casinos. But in terms of surf, it is right on the board walk, and is in walking distance on the board walk to different jetties and piers.
Went to AC once. Me and my boys started the night at the Trop and SCORED HUGE playing blackjack, but then we went to some place I think was called Wild West, where we lost all of our money. Long story short: if you start gambling at a spot and make some loot, bail. Period.
you could pull that one scene from the hangover. when theyre gambling to get their friend back from the asian.
