our president said in an interview ystdy that our youth ought to be concerned about war.
    (yes barry; blah blah blah).
    have a plan.
don't be caught with your pants down on THIS issue.

Here is my blah blah...seems to me obama has surrendered before he even gets started. hahahaha!! And you must be glad you voted for him...hahahaha!! Ah, yes...making deals with totalitarians...very smart, huh?? For a harvard grad, you would think he knew history and the lessons to be learned. So, baddy, where will you be moving to...PR?
    too funny.

you have "huevos revueltos" for brains.
my point, which you conveniently skipped over, is that todays' youth should not tune out this issue.
    the president agrees.
turn down the fox news; attempt to think on your own.

I understood your point exactly for what you meant. But they will tune it out. They will never listen to you, me, or any one else. They will listen to the glorification of war, how cool it is to be a war hero, never mind the loss of your lower limbs..... It has been so for centuries, and will not change for this or any other future conflagration, no matter what you say, or me.

Agreed. I told my sons that they can be or do whatever they want when they become adults, except join the military. I mean no disrespect to those that served but I joined the Marines 34 years ago because I thought it would straighten me out. It didn't work. War is a hard topic to discuss. There are bad people out there that we should be wary of but if I don't want my kids going off to fight, then no one's kids should.
BTW, nothing but respect for Nova Scotians!

I have a son finishing up his THIRD tour of Afghanistan... He's a special forces medic with the 7th Group. He is supposed to be working in South America... The Senioritas and Marguerritas Group... He's patched up a lot of soldiers, both American and Afghan troops. Hopefully his next deployment will be South America and he can get some surfing in...

    see?
when you focus you can actually be intellectually productive.

i know you lost a brother in nam; i was in the last year of the draft but drew a high number.
but - the angst - of WHAT SHOULD I DO?.....sticks with me decades later.
    hence the thread.

i know they won't listen......did any of them say...."you know bt, thats not a bad idea"....of course not.
but it needs to be said. here. there. anywhere.

and, for our types, the phrase "you either fight or you surf" is one heavy metaphor.

Thanks for the service; I can come on this board and freely insult and jerk people around because of guys like you that walked the walls while I and my family slept in peace. woooohooooo!!
Of course, I only come to this board to have fun doing so, but every now and then, we forget ourselves, and how insignificant each and every one of us is in the larger picture. War sucks, always has and always will. I lost my brother, a naval aviator (F-4 Phantom) during the Vietnam war. That was enough for me.

And we shall keep the scalps of our enemies. We will make offerings to the scalps, and the elders will bestow much favor onto us.
