Going to the Azores (Sao Miguel island) in about a month for a summer internship. Hear there are all sorts of waves around the island. If anyone has any experience there I would appreciate any info on summer waves (mid May through June), hazards (shallow spots, pollution, etc.), transportation, and great places to eat. Thanks.
Wannasurf will probably have the most info. From what I have researched, there are a wide variety of breaks out there. They do an ASP 4-star (I think) event there every year on Sao Miguel. Looks pretty fun from my limited watching on their webcast. I've always wanted to go to the Azores, preferably by sailboat. Do all us vicarious travelers a favor and start a break report thread and let us know when you score.
