Depending on where you're going, here is me bodyboarding in the Abacos on Christmas day of last year. I don't see it even that big often, but I have pictures of when it was 20+ 2 years ago in October, and various other 4-6ft days. More than not though, it's just chop on the reef or too calm for any surf. Hit or miss I guess, and during spring break your chances are probably worse.
Depends on which island - abaco and eleuthera have plenty of consistent surf spots. March is a really good month for swell and offshore winds. Mid winter has more swell but lots of days of onshores.
