Never been and am driving down for a couple of days. Going with some non-surfing friends so wanna hit up a place that can offer the best of both worlds. Place with a chill vibe, no drug cartel violence and reasonable lodging and a nice left would be ideal...Given the time we have probably don't want to drive all the way down so middle and northern Baja info would be greatly appreciated...share some experiences
Gracias...Definitely gonna check out those spots and explore as much as I can in the time I got...cheers to friendly winds, warm water and pacific sunsets
So, i just responded to you PM... I also did some research and checked out the swell this week. If you are leaving tomorrow and coming back wednesday, you should do your non surfing tourista stuff for the first couple of days, cause the swell is only 2-3 feet. So, you will be stuck surfing only beach breaks the first couple days. The reefs and points dont wake up until its a solid head high... On Tuesday morning, the swell will fill in, its coming from the NW, so every point on the entire coastline will be breaking then... It will reach 2ft OH by wednesday according to my calculations... So, if you can set yourself up at a nice point break by tuesday, you will not be dissapointed. You will be rewarded by ridiculously long, flawless rides... And the water temp is still around 68 right now... But beware, the further you go south in Baja until you reach Baja Sur, the colder the water gets. No sh**. The japanese current and deep upwell offshore creates a really cold current. Even in the middle of July, some of the spots way south of Ensenada are like 60 degrees. So, a 3 mill is a must...
Stick with Zach... he's done this run 300 times... HAHAHA! I guess he's gone to Baja 20 times a year for the last 15 years.... sure thing clown shoe. How about using google to answer your travel questions... thats what Zach does... before he heads off for another trip to Baja, of course
ohh jeez. Here we fu**ing go. I thought you were dead redneck? Didn't that guy in OBX fnid you and smash what few teeth you have left out of your mouth? Don't hate on me cause you have never left north carolina. fu**ing hick... And yes, for almost a decade, I basically lived down there.Tool.
A - I don't live in the OBX you kook, or NC for that matter B - no one is smashing anyone's teeth... you all are ***gots with no balls to try C - sure you lived down there in Baja... I'm guessing you woulda turned pro too huh? Zach... go eat a d!ck
ya know, I just wasted a couple of minutes writing a nasty response to you, but you know what dude. I am over this one. Not sure where the two of us got off on the wrong foot. If I remember, you are mad at me because I said OBX can't hold 15 foot waves or something of that nature. Well, sorry bro. Didn't mean to get you all hot and bothered. But now, everytime I see your name, you are just being rude to everyone. Not just me bro... Its whatever. Like I said, I spent some of the best times in my life driving down to baja every week, for years. So, I was just helping out some guys who are going down there. The guy just PMed me and said he is down there, having a blast and will prbably be staying at a place I messaged him about. This conversation was never directed to you... You just had to logon to speak poorly of me. Not sure why. But again, you don't know me. You have never surfed with me, you have never seen me surf. You don't know where I live or have lived... So, i'm not sure why you think that you have me all figured out. Whatever tho man, have a nice day. I'm sick of bi**hing at you. There are far too many waves that I could be out surfing, rather than spreading bad kharma on the internet. Cheers to you whereever you live.
jimmycraxcorn rocks. Nobody on this forum whips everybody up into a frenzy quicker than jimmycraxcorn. It's kinda entertaining to watch. I bet jimmycraxcorn loves it. Too funny. Sorry for the thread hijack. Carry on. Ps. Dropping names isn't cool, much bettah to PM directions and info like that. Even if it is pretty much a well known spot, no need to draw maps out with directions. I have friends who would be willing to troll you to tears if they saw something like that on a forum. Damn man. That was about over the top. Even if this is a east coast forum, I live here in SoCal and I read this forum. I'm sure others who go to the N. & S. California forums do too. What if I never heard of that place before? Hell you just gave me perfect directions. Fortunately nobody goes to Baja right now 'cause if you do you will die because of the drug wars and banditos. I hope everybody read that... if you go to Baja, you stand a very good chance of becoming a bad statistic. Read all the newspapers and magazines, it's all over the place. Oh, and the water is friggin freezing. You are much better staying away from Mexico. All kinds of nasty diseases too. It's bad. Stay away. Costa Rica is much better. Cleaner and nicer waves. Everybody is going there. That's where you people should focus on.... forget about evil Baja. The waves all suck there anyway. Oh, and did I mention the raw sewage... everywhere... every break. All of Baja. Nasty.
Yeah, I feel you man. But thats what I did. I PMed the guy and gave him all the juicy info, NONE of which was posted on this forum... But seriously, I have to disagree with you on this one. I mentioned La Fonda and Salipuedes. That is a far stetch from a name drop. Both of those spots are litterally on a regular driving map. That is like saying that i shouldn't mention sunset cliffs or something... So, I respect your opinion, but I just think in this situation, thats not whats going on. My PM had all the good info. I am just saying, La Fonda and Salsi are like 48th street in Ocean City. You can't exactly hide them... But for all intents and purposes, I will keep all of that in PMs from now on. I just don't feel the same as most people do about "secret spots' and name dropping. I like to share and share alike. I gurantee that guy is surfing alone right now if he took my advice in my PM. But he is talking about bringing tourists down there while he wants to surf, so I name the 2 largest tourista surf spots in Baja Norte. I didn't even mention "K**" =) But again, no disrespect, I feel you... But the guy wanted help. He got help. I don't think its very thoughtful to send a guy deep into baja this day in age if he doesn't know his way around. He should stay on the beaten path.
Ok, so I just read my initial comment. Ok, you got me there. I did give the guy turn by turn instructions and parking information... My bad =) That was PM material. I forgot how detailed I made that one... But, at least it was just directions to La Fonda =)
