Don't try to come off like it's funny or you are cool...cause you can catch a bad one.

It's not a secret spot....Nor my spot.... I surf there whenever the sand bars are working. but there was NO reason for you to blow that up.

And, that "solution" does not work everywhere......you are out of your mind.

Not trying to be a d1ck but giving detailed instruction on this forum on how to get to a certain spot is just lame.

I know pretty much every lifeguard in OG....so I don't need to sneak on...it's called flow brother.

i don't see the big deal, any beach you go to your gonna pay!
delaware you pay to park, up to 25cents for 10 minutes, or you can buy a $175 parking pass, the state parks charge to go on all of their beaches, between $5 and $8 a day, or $65 a season..at least most the time that money stays in the parks and is used on the beaches, why should you expect anything to be free anymore,

    very true

Badges are a necesary evil. Anything to keep money coming in to pay for trash cans, cleanup crews and beach rakers. Case in point. There is one small spot from SH to Manasquan where you can plop down on a summer weekend day and pay nothing. Hence its unguarded and not too many trash receptacles. And you know what? The Bennies who do go there for free show their gratitude for this unique privilege by utterly trashing the living **** out of the place every weekend, all summer long. Seriously. The beer bottles, broken chairs, dirty diapers, empty lotion bottles will stay in the piles they leave it in but when the sea breeze kicks up their Burger King wrappers and plastic bags and Big Gulp cups are scattered to the winds.

Agreed. If I'm talking about where I think you're talking about. I'm so tired of playing babysitter there. The other day my wife and I filled a grocery bag with crap on our way up to the street. This particular block has receptacles too! I don't get people that think the world is their garbage can. F*cking @ssholes!

An ocean beach is too desirable a place to not have to pay in some way or another. Sure i dont like beach badges at all but protesting this isn't going to do much. New Jersey is a way too corrupt place to ever lift these beach badge laws.

i personally would hate it, but since my dad buys season passes for my family i dont even notice it. its cool because i can lend them to my buddies when they visit or girls or what not. it'll be a pain when i actually have to buy them tho

dude, i agree 100 percent with that. I work at spring lake beach and we constantly have to pick up those pieces of crap's trash. Its ridiculous. I can remember surfing at squan and seeing orange juice containers and other garbage in the water... its just not cool!

So... you're hassling me for telling people how to get to where I surf...to come share waves with me... and it's not even "your spot"?

    Dude...that just doesn't make sense.

I just paid $60.00 for 3 seasonal badges - preseason rate. I hate paying it but it just aint worth the hassel arguing with the tag police. Normally I'm in and out in the morning before beach tags are needed and maybe back in the evening. Midday in the summer needs to be real good to deal with all the aholes especially on the weekend. I buy them for my family - I think kids under 12 are free. Going in with the dawn patrol has its advantages.

beach badges are for shoobies and benny's - if you cant sweat talk a 16 year old girl into letting you get a few waves with out paying you are a tool.

I think we've been over this before. Just grab your board and run down the boardwalk like it's firing 100 yards down the beach and run right past the guard. If he/she says "Hey!, where's your badge?" just keep running and pretend you didn't hear. If he/she gets the rent-a-cop and he whistles you out of the water just play dumb and leave the beach only to re-enter two blocks down once the coast is clear.

Back in high school a buddy made some high photo quality copies of his mom's badge and laminated them with clear packing tape used a hole puncher for the holes and used a pin off an old badge to make it look official. We all had them but eventually the badge checker caught on that all of ours had the same serial number and she called in the rent-a-cops. They treated the situation like a class three felony and my buddy ended up in court paying fines and I think community service.

:(Most upsetting discussion, where do our tax dollars go? Anyhow, why not fine pigs that litter, $100 a pop would generate some revenue!;)

Littering fines are about as common as one armed surfers. Its like the cell phone law we have. People find ways around it, continue to do it, and even the cops are doing it. Laws mean nothing if they aren't enforced.

The worst is when there are receptacles on the beach and you see garbage thrown on the beach about 2 feet from the receptacles. Some people are just complete @ssholes.

NJ Love it or Leave it.

too bad they cant offer a county badge. as much BS as it is, making people who pay for badges who pay property taxes in our coastal beach towns, i think people would go for that.

ALWAYS leave the beach cleaner then it was when you got there. respect!

on a side note you can come visit us in CR. we dont need no stinking badges.

    that's new jersey for you.
beach badges are unconstitutional, and therefore un-American.
    federal land use law.
    riparian rights.
in the 1950's wasps owned the houses and wanted to keep all non-wasps out.
so good old new jersey legislates that community beach 'associations' can be formed and 'buy' the beach and make it private.
    so,they invented the beach badge.
only the owner of a house in the association could have them.
in 1960 my dad couldn't buy a house in ocean beach III because our name sounded italian, though he's anything but.
you could not go on my beach unless you rented a house from an owner like my dad,and if anyone rented to a black,jew,non-waspy family the entire community flipped out.
i remember seeing a black person on the beach when i was little and everyone was freaking out about it.
well, the italians came, but the badges stayed.
then some smart people fought the law in point, bay head, mantoloking, etc. and to the dismay and outrage of the homeowners, the law got bent so anyone could buy a badge, they didn't have to stay in an association member's house.
this is how it is today.
    it's wrong and stupid.
i don't pay anything, nor do i buy a badge, but i'm not laying in the sun from 10-3 when they check for badges,70 days a year.
i live here, don't belong to the 'association,' don't need a lifeguard, and don't litter the beach.
if everyone looked out for each other and cared for the beach you would not need them.
the towns could pay the 'drop in a bucket' if they really needed guards and cleaning.
i was my own children's lifeguard, and would not trust them with the guards in the first place.
if no one bought a badge they would cease to exist.
if the homeowners blew off their ridiculous ego-driven 'association' headache, this sin called a beach badge would be no more.
it came from prejudicial bigot racist discrimination, and corrupt politicians.
    that's new jersey for you.

yeah you are going to pay one way or the other. The lesser of the two evils, I feel, is the badge and I am within skate or bike riding distance. The worst feeling ever is walking up to your car to see the meter showing red and a ticket in your wiper. That's after shelling out over $10 to feed the meter all day. If the beach you go to makes you pay to park and sells badges, fuggetaboutit'

imagine that? If everyone who came to the beach just refused to buy the badges and disregard the badge checkers? The rent-a-cops would be overloaded and there would probly be some rioting... But if everyone agreed not to buy the badges what are they going to do write tickets for 3,000 people?
