That was just today broski. Today wasn't even regarded by most on Hilton Head as a surfable day. I couldn't wait though. I was the only d-bag that gave it a shot this morning. We will have some shoulder high juice in the near future. You guys are looking like you will get a little more size at the height of the swell, but it also looks like it will be in the middle of the night up there, so all in all, we will probably be enjoying similar conditions. Only difference in our future is that you will be "walking out to the surf" in a full suit and I will be "skipping" out into the ocean in nothing but a confederate flag speedo holding my pinky out to check the wind direction. I will be comfortable, both in my masculinity and the water temps. Enjoy your wet suit.
Right what's wrong with a wet suit? I never take mine off. If it's windy and cold I'll still be in my 5/4. No 4/3 this year, needed a new one and never picked one up so it's either 5/4 or 3/2. I hate trunking it. Get wax all stuck in my hairy legs. Enjoy that and all the kooks the warm water brings
hey man I caught that, congrats! and I hear tell that NC is gonna be epic in honor of this most exxxxcellent news!
thanks my friend. Happy hunting to all this weekend... wth happened to the wind? I think we jynxed ourselves... just a little bit.
Hate on trunks? Say what?!? Theres a whole lot of denial going on there Bassmon. Althought I am excited to put on the 3/2 I must say.
Thats whats good about having a car travel any spot you want. I'm not letting these SW winds ruin my saturday
Nobody swims around the surf spots here. No one that visits the island ever tries to surf, so we are good to go. No more crowded in the surf in July than it is in November. This place is strange like that. There aren't surfboard rentals spots ANYWHERE near the "popular" surf spots. No one really just goes and hangs out on the beach there cause all the other beaches have public restrooms, showers and vending machine. The surf beaches are the most unwelcoming ones. Thank you Hilton Head. There are no boardwalks here and there are trees lining the enter coast, so people don't just go beach hopping. Most coastline is private plantations anyway, so if you know the deal, you can go surf completely private, empty peaks and the "gated community" acts as your own personal crowd controller... And I used to ALWAYS rock a wetsuit. I liked being comfortable, rather than looking cool, so I get that... But I would never say I like wearing a wetsuit. It just rarely got to real trunk temps in CA except for like a month. And man, I loved that month. Ya feel free. Ya feel the elements.
the forecasts are conflicting si calls for the winds to go sw to ssw in lbi, but noaa and surfline and magic seaweed are calling for west winds all day I hope si is wrong if not i'll have to explore north of lbi i only surfed lavalette once besides that i've always just stayed south, i don't know why i haven't gone up there its a good way to deal with the sw winds lbi is whats closest to me, but its looking like breaks up north will have lighter winds so ill just have to wait to i wake up on saturday.
You forgot the 12 a.m. update. I'll be stoked to surf whatever as long as it has some push. I cleaned and rewaxed my board and bikini line, so my shiny new leather speedo will compliment the wax jobs nicely.
