yep. Just bought a set of Roberts futures and the center fin was warped so bad I could see it right out of the case. Sent them back and got a fresh set. These looked fine...until I layed the center down on a flat surface and saw the foils were a little lopsided.

I've subsequently layed all my centers (I own 5 sets of futures) on a flat surface and they all have lopsided foils. After some research, I see that, because honeycomb fins are finished by hand (in china), the chances of getting perfect foils are slim to none. It's not just Futures, there are reports of FCS II centers having the same flaws.

Supposedly, QC from both companies allows quite a margin of error, claiming it doesn't affect performance.

basically, if you can literally see the bend in the fin, send it back. If the foils appear lopsided only when laying on a flat surface, you can look for a better set, but chances are you're wasting your time.

Once I warped my skeg of my longboard by leaving it in a car in the heat with the fin pointed down and the weight of the board warped the fin. So I let it get hot again and bent it back pretty close to straight. It's an Ames Squirrel Cutaway, so it bends easy. Just a cautionary tale.
