Much ado about nothing - disappointing waves here in Monmouth Cty this morning after all the talk yesterday. Maybe builds a bit for the afternoon?

i know how to read buoys. he generally has a better idea than i do of how these less-than-ideal swells will impact our region despite what the charts and graphs read.

Forecast is only calling for 2 @ 9 this morning in M. County, building to 2.6 @ 9 this afternoon.

So far, the swell is showing less then predicted in the Mid Atlantic, but looking at the outer buoys it should pick up through the
afternoon and most places will see the best surf today with the afternoon incoming, if the winds are good in your area. Looks on pace in the Southeast.

Winds look good on Monday for the Mid Atlantic...

incoming definitely the call for this afternoon. at least i can get a nice breakfast and coffee in

I actually think its kind of fun...reminds me of a tropical swell (only with about 5 less feet swell and 5 less second of wave period :)...checking buoy 41001 (E. Hatteras) and 41048 (W. Bermuda) watching it fill in and peak down there, and guestimate the distance from those buoys to our local spots and how long it will take to get here. I'm kind of thinking DP Monday if the west winds materialize should be a fun smallish swell for the Delmarva.

Ya, there hasn't been anything worth tracking in the middle of the ocean in a while... This is definitely a minor little swell, I was just excited to see the Bermuda High, because that is our best friend this time of year.

It was knee high early this morning and now its waist-chest in ocean county (10am). The wind went SE already but NOAA is calling for increasing SW up to 20kts so I have some faith in that.

DP was fun in central NJ - smaller than I hoped for, but at least we were alone. Lifeguard whistles and then 25 guys jammed up on top of one jetty... lot's of yelling over mini set waves killed it for me.

Afternoon's the call, but the crowd is nasty. Can't do evening, had to shoot my load early.

Got some fun ones in Monmouth County this morning, anywhere from knee to stomach on the sets. A lot of closeouts so I only surfed for about an hour then grabbed the fins and handplane for a couple hours. Shallow, low tide, hollow closeouts equals more bodysurfing tube time than I can count!

Was fun in Delmarva... But as always, there aren't a lot of spots to surf.

body surfed for a while in lbi but after about an hour one of those random thunderstorms rolled in and caught everyone on the beach then stayed for the rest of the day. there was definitely some size but with the crappy wind and low tide it was all close outs. gonna try dp tomorrow i hope the swell picks up over night
