Chest with some rare shoulder hit sets this morning in moco. Some power there, long lulls, with tons of people. Drops in, beginners and SUPs getting in the way. Summer time is the worst of these swells in this range. We need a good 8 foot swell to keep these people on the beach. Anyways, it's looking bigger with the lower tide and might have to hit it again. I'm curious to see some pics along the whole coast of this swell. I don't think it really got to the head high range anywhere on the coast but I would love to see some pics prove me wrong. Definitely overhyped in my opinion but I'm sure there were some people stoked on it.
i saw about two or three 5 foot bomb set roll through and that was the biggest ive seen. rest were 3-4 at most. looks like the south got it way better than the north did this swell. viva la south

Nice Pics. Those waves look to have some nice form. Looks like the same size we have here but the wave form looked better by you. I'm curious to see some head high waves and overhead. I heard Florida got some.
http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/bertha-rapid-fire_115831/ Everything from chest to OH in the slideshow. OBX and FL were the obvious standout spot, with some other nice shots of folly, SC.
I'm not trying to be rude. I don't see any OH waves in that slideshow and maybe a head high one. I was hoping to see some solid head high to oh. We peoples knees are close to touching the board and the crest is shoulder high, I don't call that head to OH but that's just me. Not trying to take away stoke. I think the waves down that way looked way more fun than here. I'm hoping to get out again soon around lunch and maybe things will change.
I can definitely say it didn't get OH at all down here. I was crouching into everything, and from all the folly footage, it seems more of the same up there. 4 feet was about the average set with a few bigger ones, but down in SC, we for sure didn't see anything OH at all. This looks messy, but I would call this a couple feet OH based on whats happening behind him. Somebody on here claimed that OBX was running 6-8+ . I am sure there will be more footage emerging in the coming days, but I don't think anyone outside of Hatteras saw anything overhead at all....
It was averaging shoulder high with head high sets from time to time at Folly and IOP. That is probably why the waves were holding so well. I saw some really long rides and really long barrels. IMO, it was perfection. Any smaller and it would have just been another normal swell. Any larger and there would have been way more closeouts.
Hey man, round here that was perfection. I mean, I am stoked to go hit it in an hour and grab some knee to waist on the log. And here is a live snapshot of the mayhem I about to walk into As long as you keep low expectations, life is good. Expect just a little and you will have a smile on your face when you walk over that dune.
That will be me after work. I can work with waist high any day. Also, 3 days in a row surfing after work is pretty awesome for me. I am usually lucky if I can just get out there 2 times a week.
I surfed boilers tuesday morning from 8 am till noon, and it was solid head high with standout sets around 8 feet. Once the tide got too high it stopped breaking there. We shot down to s-turns after lunch and got worked by solid head high swell with the occasional overhead wave. Back home in VB i don't think it ever got over chest high
