Dayum. Topsail is throwing some clean green beans.

Hope you guys are getting your fill, only thing I'm surfing is a keyboard at work. Enjoying living vicariously through you guys and putting another gallon in my karma bucket. I'll get my swell eventually.

Yeah, "...that spot..." was somewhat disappointing this am...even after the tide started to fill in. So, back up the road to da island and viola! North end was working!!! Wind outta the north around 2pm playing its game but still fun. And, oh so shallow, yo!

Thanks Seldom. I hope you and the rest of the SI crew get a freakin' all you can eat buffet of green beans. Hit it like a Roman.

We'll get it eventually RC. Next swell is always on the horizon.

That sucks but you scored anyway. We changed our plans at the last minute... the tide and peak swell didn't seem to match up too well with the guarantee of an agro summer crowd. I love how everyone here treats "the spot that shall not be named" like it's a secret when it quite clearly is not...oh well I'll play along.

sucks swell is tomorrow and my new board wont be here til Friday.im thinking about getting a sponge to use for tomorrow after work.somehow for me managing my boards and keeping them safe is high maintenance.i could keep a sponge in the trunk for days when I don't want to go home after work.still waiting on my swim fins too.my last job my boss let me store a few boards in the shop and the beach was 2 minutes away.the only board I can fit in my car is my 6'0 and it needs to be patched up.it would be a lot cooler if this swell was on Friday but we don't get to pick the days we get to surf

"Clean green beans"! Love it. Best term since "thunder(unt." This will become part of the lexicon, the lingo, the slang of our sub-culture. And it's family friendly, unlike the other utterance. Agreed, looking at those cgb's at the Topsail Pier makes me froth for the future. I hope your karma bucket steers you into some empty clean green bean bombs sooner than later.

    For me, yesterday >> today

It was closing out heavy at blue tops, but every once in a while...

Just glad this swell hit on a weekday, had it been on a weekend the lifeguards would've been enforcing the no surf zone. I like to go as far north as I can when I'm at Mayport, wave quality permitting, that would've sucked since it would pinch the crowd too much around the poles.

Yeah yesterday was the better overall combination of swell & crowd but those drainers today were on the money. I don't know if I believe it but on a big SE, Surfline regularly has Blue Tops a consistent foot bigger than poles... 5-6 today versus 3-5 at poles. Sweet spot for those who want to walk. I find I'm less apt to put up with the typical J-ville surfing shenanigans from the lighthouse on up... can't trespass and be a jerk...that's one violation too many.

Thank you Bertha. You were a great ride today. Most fun I have had with my pants on in quite a while. Low Country of SC enjoying some ideal conditions featuring occasional HH sets that were hollow with good lines and glassy. Lasted four hours and had to give you up but, I will never forget you.

My spot on IOP wasn't closing out too much. Had a few long rides. It was about waist to chest, with just a bit of mush. I did a nice oh sh1t chest high drop in and made it. It was more crowded than I have ever seen it out there. Might have to hit my other spot tomorrow to avoid the crowds.

Used bigger swell as opportunity to transition to a much lighter, thinner board. It was a struggle, but manged to catch a few. Got in 3 sessions today. Had to cut the third session short this evening. The old man was tuckered out.

It isn't a secret. There are about 4 key spots on the island.

Rodanthe pier was pretty heavy today legitimate 6-8ft+ with an occansional 10ft clean up sets. Went to Jeanette's after an scored some rippable shoulder high waves. Winds were kind of on it but still make able. No real barrels but big turns and big drops. Gonna try again in the am. Thank you Bertha!
