Ok, so I've defaulted into Puerto Rico, Rincon, etc, as my relatively easy to get to destination from the northeast (CT). It's usually pretty darn good, but can be a little hit or miss swell wise.
Question is, what am I missing that is as good/better with same general travel parameters?
So probs got to be Carribean - warm water a must. Your thoughts?

whatever you do, don't be adventurous

Yeah, PR is fun, but there are other options:
    Barbados
    Dominican Republic
    Bocas Del Toro Panama
    Caribbean side of Costa Rica
Other more fickle spots in the Caribbean...Jamaica (yes, Jamaica), Trinidad, British Virgin Islands
If you're young, no kids, have a passport, and got a couple weeks to explore, try the above.

Good ideas, thanks. Got everything but a lot of time, thus the easy to get to part. Hmm, Barbados...

Yea- totally the easiest surf trip I have done- with the sickest waves and warmest water. I would do it all over again, anyday over those other ''destinations"

Slater always raves about Soup Bowls in Barbados so that's always been a spot I want to visit. PR is much cheaper than everywhere else in the islands. I've tried to go other places but always go back. and I like it there. I live in baltimore so I can handle a little grime in PR.

I'm going to second PR, getting to CR isn't too bad either if you fly into Liberia. Sort of eats up a whole day each way if you try to save some bucks and fly in and out of san jose. I'm about to fly to hawaii and it's like 16 hours of travel. As basic b*tches would say... "ugh"

A couple of guys around here go down to Barbados each year. They say Soupbowls is awesome. The trip is pricey compared to PR, but would be a new spot for you to explore, and the island of Barbados is pretty big and has waves on one side or the other 365. If you have the dinero, pull the trigger.

tbh besides cr 4 times, i have only been to tortola and turks and caicos to surf

i lived in florida 4 years in indiatlantic and 5 years in palm beach county. so florida doesn't really count as a surf trip
