    Just a few nominations:
Endless Summer(original...but the follow ups were good too)
    Chasing Mavericks
Soul Surfer(have YOU tried to surf with one arm?)
Point Break (How did Keanu Reeves get missed for an academy award?)

What's your pick? Any others that you want to mention?

As cheesy as it is, I vote for 'In God's Hands.' Ton of real and good surfers in it, and just as cheesy as North Shore. Plus, Shane Dorian is the main character! You just can't beat the one liners in North Shore though. You can watch In God's Hands for free on hulu.com under movies-do a simple search.

When I lived on the left coast, I used to drink with Jan Michael Vincent & Gary Busey at Trancas Bar in Malibu. Located just off PCH on Trancas Canyon Road. Trancas was the definition of a dive bar before the term was invented by yuppies trying to be cool. A stinking sticky hellhole with more brawls per weekend than most places I've ever been.

It was our regular place, though. Don't think it's there anymore? We'd also hang with Robert Conrad, a stone alky who would pop 20 beers in one sitting & then drive home - - but Bob didn't surf.

I remember one night when Busey, totally hammered, got on a moto in the Trancas Market parking lot & crashed into something; his injuries thus delaying the start of some movie he was featured in. And Vincent would constantly be taken home by Malibu cops when he got nasty with women who brought him home 'cause the women reckoned that he was still a Disney boy toy. Vincent was a really mean drunk; when he hit the chicas, it usually didn't make the press in those days.

Keehrist, those guys were all insane wild things. There's absolutely no point to this anecdote. Thank you.
