I have a 4-3 back zip wetsuit and using a hood is very inconvenient. Should I invest in a better hood and deal wit the inconvenience or should I invest in a chest zip with a built in hood?
Hi, I think you should invest in a chest zip rather than a hood and accsesories. You know what suit I have. Its awesome.
Personally, I prefer having an unhooded 4/3, when I want to stretch it into colder water, I have a wetsuit hood attachment that is pretty much a rashguard with attached hood that you put on under your suit and the hood folds down around the neck of the suit. More versatile for a wider range of water/air temps. Given my location, I have a thicker winter suit I'm in for part of the year anyways, so the sacrificed warmth of the hood attachment v. attached hood on the 4/3 isn't as critical for me. If my 4/3 was my warmest suit, I may be more apt to have an attached hood, I just don't like surfing with a hood pulled off the back of my head (it always puts pressure on my Adam's Apple).
Hood attached. 5/4/3. Way more flexible and comfortable. When I tuck the hood into the 4/3 can't turn my head the same. Then your 4/3 can get you thru the rest of the year.
