It's things like the current 6-10' forecast for the MA south shore on Friday on Magic Seaweed which make me think it's not the most accurate site for this part of the world.
There is a pretty huge coastal storm forecast for the end of next week...bigger than the current one...but its a week away and probably likely to change a million times between now and then. But this forecast map for next Friday is showing a pretty solid swell for southern NE down through the OBX:
10' in Hull seems a bit big for a non-hurricane, non-noreaster event, no? Barry, if you're a fan of MSW, more power to you. Enjoy.
If the current pattern persists it'll weaken and go way off shore and give us the good medium sized lines we've had the past week...the Nino pattern has set up good for both weather and waves (thus past week) for the NE area...I have no reason to believe that the pattern will change until I actually see it change So...don't hold your breath on the hype train, but keep an eye on it On that note, going to get bones checked out by a specialist on Wednesday, so I'll probably be in surgery and a cast for two-three months so enjoy the waves buoys!!!
I am a fan of no forecast that predict anything more than 2 days out--too much can change 5-7 days out. Computer models, both for weather forecasts AND "climate change" depend on human input (bias). Inaccuracy is a rule, but I still will be happy, as will you, if they correctly predicted a large swell, right??
The 'weed has already cut their prediction in half Like I said, pay attention to trends and your trusted local weather person...luckily up here, some people up here only leave the area for 4-8 years of school and then return and study patterns up the a$$...if their knowledgeable enough and take their job seriously, they've seen it all before and are pretty accurate with 1-2 week projections of patterns and climate (not exact forecasts)...with stuff like this, the guy I pay attention to is right twice as much as he is wrong
well since yesterday Friday dropped 10ft.was like 18.2ft,now its 7ft.if one thing can change, why cant it just be the wind?shyt if its been westerly winds these past 2 weeks,it would've been the best 2 weeks of surfing in probably a decade, solid waves everyday, just onshore tho so no Bueno.i wanted to go the beach just to see these 18footers,but apparently theyr gone with the wind
and for the people like saddadbrad that said yea man I'm going surfing... where da phuck were u?i checked everywhere from sandy hook to long branch, and I know Monmouth beach is his hotspot.not a soul in sight, and that's because u would be retarded and probably drown if u paddled out in those conditions the past few days.i went to the beach just to see mother natures wrath on the sea.there was no lineup,no spot to sit,no waves u could actually paddle into, just solid mushburgers turning into 8ft dredging closeouts. only good thing coming out of this will be the new sandbars getting formed
