In the Mid-Atlantic forum, the question was asked how big the biggest wave on the east coast was. Could anyone shed some light on the subject?
some FL guy here lost and in the wrong forum Anyways, when Hannah was north swell and Ike was south swell I was out at a spot by cape canaveral FL sufring solid 8' Hawian ( accordign to the photo guy on the beach I talked to after). I'd been out there for about 10 waves and getting worked by alot more. Then after one wave on my paddel back outside I saw one breaking way way outside to the right, like nothing I'd ever seen in FL but more like something from a surfer mag! I'd say 10' maybee 12' Hawian and the most important thing is that it was to the right on me as I didn't want to take the duck dive as it probably snap by little 6'4" board

Look up elbow ledge and ruggles in ri they are the biggest waves on the east coast for sure you have to tow in at elbow i think magic seaweed has some on it
I saw a video of valentines day 08 at ruggles and that swell was solid. i was surfing in mtk that day and it was big but the vid of RI at least looked a little bigger? And that st. pats swell is up there too. Both swells were DOH + on the big sets. i also remember a few swells in march that were huge. i will say the biggest waves i have paddled out in and watched other people surf were tripple over head. It would be super rare to have a swell bigger than that and have good rideable conditions, but at a few spots i think it is possible but again rare.
Valentines 08 was great! 100yd rights Hanna was too! all these day were great but it had to be hurricane fabian! i forget the guys name but he made the cover of surfer or something. or the storm before that had to be the perfect storm.
