Koki...you make a fine point...so rather than just ***** about the characters we have on this site and the type of bull**** posting I don't prefer...I thought it better to contribute something of value...so to be a hypocrite I'll double post right off the bat--yea Emass I feel ashamed (look for an apologetic pm tomorrow on that point)...anyway... A friend of mine owns a shop and brought over this little nugget of a board: Bing Swee'Pea 2.0 (modified Swee'Pea before the Bulb came out). 5'7"x21x2 3/8"...board is massive (for my height weight) but the rails are foiled out and thin and looks like a good oversized groveler. As well...like most...I love a good round tail. The board was a trade in but beat to hell. Got thrown onto the rocks in Brigantine during Cristobal and has pretty much every type of ding that has come up on this forum...with the exception of a delam. Consequently, I'll walk through fixing her up (the pic doesn't show the amount of damage very well but trust me it's there)...add a bit to the forum archive as well as get this board ready to surf...look for future updates...
round tails are a little too stable in small waves for me, but that's a cool board, overall. Yeah, the board you got is definitely closer to the bulb than a swee'pea. The original swee'pea was a carbon copy of the lost couch potato (or vise-verse), except the pea has a little more rocker and, therefore, range. Based on my exp with is type shape, you really don't want it too big for your size...it will handle like a boat.
live4t, looks like a great stick. How much rocker? Not a great pic to show rocker but the bottom pic looks like there's a decent amount in the tail. Pretty good dims. That's starting to get too wide for my liking but it would just make it. What do you cats think of winged tails?
disagree on this point. swee'pea came out first, but the boards aren't really anything alike. there are vague similarities in outline, but the INTENT of the 2 models are far different. the swee'pea is a kind of stepped-up dharma, w/ well foiled rails, lower volume, & a more pulled in tail (nose width on the dharma & swee'pea are mostly the same). couch potato is a groveller version of the layZboy/layZtoy...wider, thicker, flatter rockered. the pea has more range than the potato, sure, but to call them carbon copies based on their outline alone is kind of short-sighted.
can't speak for L4T, but i can comfortably ride a 5'8"x21 1/8"x2 5/16" dharma in small, weak surf & have a blast, & i'm 6'0"x200lbs.
this is a REALLY cool looking board! i really like the idea of the swee'pea as a 5 pack...it just screams "twin + trailer" to me. (sorry (not sorry) for the triple posting, emass!)
This kind of project is where a plain white board is SO nice. That board could have cracks, dents, divots, cancer all over it and with some careful ding repair can be brought back to a 9/10 condition cosmetially SO much more easily than something with an elaborate paint/resin job.
I'm 14, 5'5''ish, 120ish lbs, and have been surfing for 3 years on a 6'0'' CI gravy. I'm ordering a 5'5'' SUPERbrand Unit. I've gotten so many recommendations on these dims. I can't remember the exact dims tho, just know its gonna be a huge step down and its gonna take a wave at least waist high to get up on....
I'm 5'11"x165lbs...the planing surface of this board is huge--nose and tail are probably around the 16" mark, but I'll double check tonight. Buddy who has one, seen me surf, etc. said I should be riding a 5'4" or smaller, but I'll give this one a whirl and then trade it in. As for my board being a "him" Allan...Absolutely a him...I want a board that is dependable and willing to hang out for long periods of time and not bother me...I don't want to sleep with them or have them nag the crap out of me...also, want them to be able to let go and be sold to another person...yea...I'm over thinking this a bit! Emass...I'll post up a rocker shot tonight/tomorrow... NJ...picked up the Von Sol/Jenson quad set...unbelievable how loose and drivey they are...totally shocked...thinking they'll work really well in this board. Clemson...yea...white boards and sanded finished boards...two of my favorites to repair. I'll have some minor areas of filling... More to come....
Dang, just saw the fin plug damage. Never tried one of those myself. Good luck. That board is sweet. just got my first round tail and am loving it. no bumps and I am still releasing it with the fins I got (quad FCS KS version 2.0) - gunna get wet this wednesday!
