Most unfcomfortable board shorts I've ever worn.

 

if i remember right they very expensive and uncomfortable like 40-45 buck and your balls paid for it

 

I've had a couple pairs for beach lifeguarding. Best shorts ever. practically indestructible.

Although they did take an entire season to break in haha

 

who cares. just a bunch of lameo lifeguards wearing them anyway

 

Idk where your buying your shorts but I buy brand name and its never over 55 bucks.

this. i also find that most big name boardies are too long for my taste. i prefer to actually be wearing shorts, not capris, when i surf. stop them at the knee or slightly above, please.

 

Patagonia boardshorts aren't quite that cheap but they are the best I've ever had in terms of comfort and durability- I had the same problem you had with the "surf brands" shorts falling apart (the best was the key loop breaking & losing my car key
). Fratagonia, Patagucci, whatever- lifetime guarantee as well as basic styling that doesn't induce vertigo.

yea, i've got a pair of patagonia trunks going on their 6th year now. the velcro is a bit iffy, but they're solid otherwise; comfortable, simple, classicly stylish. i'm very often the only guy out on a hp shortboard in trunks that don't look like something out of an 80's punk video.

 

they use a single button now instead of velcro b/c it lasts longer, that's the great thing they never stop trying to improve- I guess since they last so long they have to improve them- you wont need new ones so they have to give you a reason to want a new pair-

I don't get it sometimes with the garrish patterns on some boardshorts- seems like it might attract unwanted attention from "very large fish with sharp teeth that are firmly in place"

 

sh**, you guys are nuts paying $50 for boardies!!!

I just hit up the Ross down the street, and year round, they have last year's model shorts for like $9.99... All of them bi**es too.

I got like 100 pairs of boardies. None of them last more than two years or so. I wear boardies though while I do anything...

If im not at work, or doing something civil, I have boardies on 365 days of the year.... So I put them through the ringer, but I never expect them to last....

I am shocked when I get more than 2 years out of shorts....

The oldest boardies I own, are Ezekial (local socal company, not sure if they are back east). They are going on 6 years old now. I have taken them to Multiple counties. Worn them through like 5 different fads in socal... I have washed them HUNDREDS of times... These things just wont die... They are super comfy and they haven't faded or lost a stitch for 6 years... Pretty amazing now that I think about it...

So I guess, Ezikiel is my vote....

but again, boardies for $50 are only designed for a season or 2... And if you are wearing them out surfing all summer, they will die. They are made for the kids who visit the beach for a week and rarely ever use them....

 

wow i remember people wearing these as a kid back in the late 70s. i may have had a pair too. they're completely going out of business now?

 

actually, my experience w/ that stupid button is exactly the opposite. i bought a new pair of the minimalist boardshort last summer & about 2 days before my trip to the maldives the button popped off b/c it had corroded away at the holes they use to sew it on. i wasn't real happy about that...

I've had birdies for a while. One pair is 5 years old and still in great condition. While they are not my everyday boardies, I never had any complaints with birdies, too bad they can't hang on. They are great for people who dislike the modern style shorts that are below your knees.
