ive noticed it whenever he surfs, and kelly slater just had a segment on surfline discussing his quiver, im just curious of what that black line is on the bottom of his boards. sometimes they look like a stringer and then other times they are almost 3 inches wide? am i kookin it here or?

in a previous interview, i think he said that it was a carbon fiber strip...if you notice, he mostly has it on the boards that have perimeter stringers or flex tails...they're basically there to reinforce the board & help prevent longitudinal snapping.

i figured that is was a carbon strip but wasnt to sure, the "chunnel" board is pretty radical i must say. almost like my no6 covenant bodyboard how it creates an air pocket under the board....though there is no tunnel running thru the board.

i agree the kelly slater is the man, but shane dorian can charge like no other
