Why are you acting like the idea of subtle differences are so far fetched? Nature would be flat out boring and unsuccessful if every different subset of beings were identical. Besides the surgeon I was referring to has cut more bullets out of young black men than you've had successful tube rides, so I'd say there's at least something to the notion.

Somebody is actually thinking. Bone density? Wow, a bunch of complete idiots here. You guys really believe that crap? Here is a video of my boy Sandrigo. He is a black a$$ brazilian with some dense as$ bones. Crappy vid quality but watch him rip and then tell me about your ridiculous racist thought. The girl that actually catches a wave is more light skinned..

I don't have much to say on the topic but I thought the video might add to the thread. Maybe trying to change the culture? Idk I definitely think it's the learning to swim aspect

Probably both culture and class? Surfing can be expensive (boards and their maintenance, transportation to the beach). And living near the ocean is a must. Much of African-America culture is defined by the urban north and rural south? Mostly middle class (and increasingly upper middle and beyond) live near the ocean? Similar attributes for skiing, running, and bicycling, I imagine.

yeah, because I've NEVER seen any black people in Jacksonville, Virginia Beach, or Wilmington, NC.

They all live in new york city and on farms out in alabama.

besides those board things are SUPER expensive and we all know black people are poor.

Hey Baddy with the Trailer, I have an idea. Yeah, that's why your lights just flickered.

Get a video camera and go around Atlantic City axing African Americans why they live so close to quality waves and yet never surf. Don't they know how good States Ave is?

Then post your vid on here so we can learn, instead of having a bunch of Y T's speculating on black folk.

Haha, that's awesome. (Why I love this board). The question marks were meant to undermine any b.s. authoritative voice I might've projected - y'know, me not being black and all - but maybe that was too subtle? Still, well done young Skywalker, well done.

slashdog & makeitstop got it right here...think of the terms you are using, people! terms such as,"they" "them" "those people" are pejorative and highly offensive. as a white brah that grew up in an inner city, i'm offended by these terms and the discourse of this topic in the dialogue that is being used. if you want to speak about another race, culture or sex, you need to know how to empathize prior to opening your mouth. i mean, why don't we just begin a thread saying, "why aren't there more smart black people with software start ups like b. gates & s. jobs". this might be a valid topic, but one needs to understand how to talk about it first.

i think it was slashdog that hit the nail on the head with swimming in general...however i am happy to see that the trend is ever so slowly being reversed with faces of swimming such as cullen jones & lia neal. let it be known that the first african-american that had a legitimate shot at making a us Olympic swim team was byron davis just app. 20 years ago...think about that.

as i've said, this might be a valid sociological discussion, be try to be more sensitive in thoughts and speaking. no matter how much you may in fact not be racist, your words might betray you.
