I know this isn't about surfing - but I also know there are a few Baltimore natives on here (and probably some open wheel race fans), so I figured I'd maybe be able to get some info from you all. I'm debating on heading up to the city to photograph the race this coming weekend. I was unable to go last year due to work, so I'm not familiar with the track other than what I've seen on the diagram - but I grew up around the city and know it well. I know that getting around the city is going to be insane, so I was hoping to set up where there will be some good places to grab some shots at a few different angles. Anyone been and have any recommendations? Maybe spots that I would be able to jump around to different corners/straightaways and switch backgrounds? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not familiar with Baltimore so I can't help you at all, but post some pics if you get some good ones. Seeing open wheel racing live and up close is an awesome experience!
My dad used to race ALMS. I would go for sure if I were you. Tons of fun. Unique experience. For photo recommendations I would personally go on top of the parking garage across from the Hilton. You could get cool above ground shots on two straight always and a sharp corner before the straightaway heading towards the Orioles stadium. make the drive, it'll be worth it.
Good call... I knew you guys would be thinking out of the box on this... I hadn't even thought of parking garages to get a higher point of view, I was just planning on running around to spots and elbowing my way through the crowd to get street level shots. Thanks for the tip man, I really appreciate it! RobG - I'll def post some shots if I can pull this off...
I'm also thinking of going. does anyone know if you MUST have a ticket or are there areas you can watch without getting tickets?
