Hey guys, so Im looking for a new board... specifically to help me become the World Champion of Surfing.
Im about 6'2" and after seeing Jon Jon's huge air the other day and the fact that Kelly Slater is older than I am I think getting the right board will make this happen....

NJSM can point you in the right direction, Kelly picks his quiver based off what NJSM is riding.

Thanks for the replies... also I think I put like 6 or 7 fins on the bottom... that should help me with my world champion aspirations.
Also, does anyone know where I can sign up for the world champion contest?
I guess they probably hold them somewhere in New Jersey, right?

Of course that's where they have them. Everybody knows New Jersey is the best state in the state. Needless, I say more...

Might wanna consult the NJshredmachine, Fitz.
After all, he's an expert at shotting piers; he's the best that ever done it.....you ask him, he'll tell ya.

The board does not matter as long as you stay surfing in the Northeast.

Finally ! Now I can lend my expert advice... The only way to be sure you will be the world champ is... wait for it...First thing- post lots of beach work outs, warm ups , and bench offs. While this won't help you it will ensure the rest of us have something to talk about. second as you are shredding the pier in jersey make damn sure you are catching lots of air while doing a 360 under the pier ( video please ) . Third and most important is women you have to have lot's of women .

    Good luck Champ!

Lots of good advice here. Im wondering if using a leash would hold me back. I could probably do bigger airs under the pier if I was un- tethered... I mean I don't know how to do airs... but the right board would do them for me. I mean this whole world champion campaign is going to be based on my sick 7 fin ripper...

7 fins is so last year, I'm riding a 10-fin now, plus a nubster under the nose for when I stomp my airs and want to cruise a bit before letting my tail fins catch to pivot back

Champs don't use leashes. They use bindings

just buy the lastest slater CI pro model board (like 6" too small), take just below the lethal limit of Human Growth Hormone, and smoke some PCP. That is how an average person does some john john ****. If it doesn;t work, oh well, it was fun.

Make sure it has lots of nose rocker so it can make the drop on those 23 foot A frames.

Honestly I think wooden boards are going to be the next advancement on the ASP tour. There are no legitimate negative reviews of those boards so they must be the best. I'm no expert, but 13' is probably the range you want to look at with a minimum of 34 inches of rocker. I heard Kelly was charging mavericks on a Roy Stewart/Stuart inspired board.
