Im looking for a couple opinions on a board and whether you guys think the size is ok. Going to indo in the fall. I have three boards im bringing and looking to pick up another backup shortboard with a round tail or rounded pin. really just looking to use it in 4-6\'+ barrels, obviously in Indo and here and there when we get some good surf around here. I found a used 6\'3\" x 18.75 x 2.4 sharpeye SBT with a rounded pin for a nice price. im \r\n6\', 185-190, been surfing for 15+ years. im just wondering if you think its a tad bit small. im on the edge about it which is why i wanted to get some feedback.
I'm sure it depends on what spots you plan to hit, but in general I would say at your size...and given the likelyhood that your gonna have some days that are a bigger than 4-6... your gonna want to also bring something longer like in the 6-6 to 6-8 range. I know fall isnt prime season, but when i went a few years ago late september - early october we hit a couple really solid days. Definately 6-8 foot sets and some bigger bombs.
I would say that it is a tad bit small. If anything, you want to be slightly over-foamed for confidence in Indo. Not TOO overfoamed, but slightly. Keep the tails relatively narrow and have good nose/tail rocker for indo because the waves are round. But you still want to get into the waves as early/easy as possible so don't go TOO thin/narrow up front.
