I used to run my Mini Driver as a quad for smaller surf with K2.1s in the front and the Mayhem quad rears and it works pretty well. But now I basically ride my Bottom Feeder if the surf is smaller/weaker and then just keep the Mini Driver setup as a tri with the Mayhem Fronts and the K2.1 rear (Mayhem rear is gigantic). Like it better as a tri for tighter, more pivotal turns. Have done some insane carves with this setup. Feels really good with that rounded pin.

Quad is sort of a compromise for me if I have the board out in surf that isn't really good enough for the board. If I'm traveling with one board, bring both quad and tri setups gives me a lot of range but I don't really like the Mini Driver as much if the waves aren't standing up. However it's the first quad I've had that I like. Bottom Feeder is the second.

Also have a CI Semi Pro 12 which has a much tighter quad setup (McKee?) and I never got it to work well as a quad. However the Mini Driver feels better in both smaller and bigger surf and I'm probably getting rid of the Semi-Pro as I never ride it. It's a good board for me for warm water, perfect surf, but unfortunately that doesn't happen all that much and keeping it around for the odd Nica trip isn't really worth it.

However if you got a bigger, thicker Semi Pro 12 with heavier than standard glass it might be good for the conditions you want. It's basically a Proton (that's where the "Pro" come in) with lower nose rocker (Semi), a wider nose (that's the 12) and a rounded pin. Mine is a little thin and the glassing sucks but if you beefed it up a bit might work for the conditions you want.

yes. a 6'6" pintail with a blunt nose. thin rails, but plenty of width/foam under the chest to paddle like a machine. i never would have thought it was a tube machine, but it is. i have an 8" Bing fin in it with lots of rake, and it holds sick on a hollow wave. it's a gem i'm afraid will be hard to recreate.
