Man, so I've been up at a lot of weird hours as of late. I'll usually chief one down before feeding time if the situation allows. Been playing a lot of music but sometimes I want to watch something whilst I soothe the bambino, but at the same time I refuse to expose her to garbage stimuli.

Low and behold, scrolling through netflix, I see The Joy of Painting as an option. I was flooded with memories of happy little trees being painted on the television at my grandmother's house, but I had no fkn clue how righteous the man was.

I'm convinced he had at least one meaningful psychedelic experience.

His approach is truly Zen-like and he demonstrates effortless mastery.

So just when I'm like, 'yeah, right on Bob', dude starts feeding a fkn orphaned squirrel, then discusses how he has an enclosure for all the orphaned squirrels he rehabs.

So, let's talk about Bob, I'm sure there must be a couple fans in this here fine think tank of ours.

I used to watch Bob Ross back in the early eighties. I had an art class in high school and would set up an eisel with a canvas and do an immitation of him while I painted a portrait of a friend. Would do that for a whole period and had everyone laughing, at the end of the class everyone laughed even harder when i turned around and showed them what was the worst painting they had ever seen, even worse then a 2 year old. Loved doing that.

Being an artist, I was always intrigued where he took that style of painting.
I've always found oils to be frustrating and difficult. He was always so calm and made it look effortless.
Read his bio after you brought this man to memory. 20 years of service. Master Sergeant. Most of his service done in Alaska, which reflects in his paintings. Photographer of wild life.
Unfortunate that he passed so young. 52
Thanks for the blast from the past, Seldom!

In college we made up a drinking game that went along with that show. I don't remember all the rules, but I'm pretty sure "happy squirrels" would cause everyone to have to chug a beer.

I knew some of you crackers had to be down with Bob. Watched him paint "Frosty Winter Morn" after a purple crack/sour D salad last night, utterly fantastic.

Don Q, my words exactly when discussing him w wifey...seems to demonstrate effortless mastery.

Tlok that's funny bc we were talking about creating some type of game for every time he cleans the brush and says 'beat the devil out of it'.

There's aboot 28 episodes on Netflix right meow, gonna save a couple to watch on a moderate dose for the first viewing, I'll give a ride report in this here thread.

Funny thing, I too used to watch Bob do his magic, even tried to imitate what he was doing. A friend of my wives family gave me an art set, easel and all, so I tried. Limited success, admittedly.
