its def. a heated topic but i'd say its more of a stupid topic... if someone is out in the line up, charging hard and showing respect, it really doesnt matter what they are riding...keep the narrow minded, drunk ass comments to yourself... it's people like you who bring the unwanted negativity to the line up and the message boards...
not sure if it has ever occured to you, but surfers all do the same thing too, besides a few that can do ariels, its carve back and forth on 3 ft mushburgers and call it epic.... its all just subjective to what you like to do, and if you actually stoped to watch bbers and realize they are charging or watch a bbing vid, you might actually realize these guys charge harder and ride heavier things that you will ever see, let alone ride in your life....dont hate on bbers and talk about how thier lives are in the gutter just because yours is....
First off: thanks for bringing a heated debate to the forum I was starting to get concerned that this was the cleanest forum around with no hatred or slamming each other- j/k! A surf forum without any trash talking, whos heard of that... Someone has posted this topic in just about every surf forum there is. I just have one suggestion for you Boner, and that is to get the MIA dvd, which is an all east coast bodyboarder vid. If watching some of the best bodyboarders on the east coast in some truly sick east coast surf doesn't change your mind, than prob nothing will. If you want a copy, let me know, I'll send it to you for FREE ($30 retail)!
Dude you shouldn't be allowed to surf with a mindset like that. You have no respect. Bodyboarders can do things on waves that you never will. A lot of bodyboarders can surf too but choose to bodyboard. Wake the hell up. We don't bodyboard because we can't surf, we bodyboard because thats what we like to do. I admit it is easy for any kid off the street to pick up a bodyboard and crowd lineups, but the ones who have put in their time and charge when surfers are standing on the beach watching, or when we are paddle into waves that surfers are towing into, give us some respect. Let's see some footage of you ripping it up on a surfboard, not doing the same things wave after wave. And as for all bodyboarders lives being in the ****ter, don't make such broad statements about a group of people you know nothing about. All my friends who bodyboard are doing quite well for themselves. Anyway thanks for pissing me off, hope you accomplished what you were trying to do.
BonerSurfs, considering you are from VB & the lack of power in your local breaks for waves that bodyboarders prefer I can almost see your point. I lived & rode there for a year & luckily you have the option to head south to Hatteras. The funny thing is you made the comment that you are a typical surfer as if representing them as a spokesperson. As BBERS we are used to such comments & could really care less knowing we could strive to progress to your surfer status. Hold on to that mindset & continue to be jealous of the sponger species for getting all your good waves. I get along with pretty much everyone in the water regardless of wave riding vehicle preference provided they show the same. On my way to Hatteras I for sure will skip by VB so you can get some waves, but once in Hatteras your on your own & be reminded of how much you hate BBERS when you see me slotted in "YOUR" barrel.
First of all Boner, your name makes no sense being that your mind is so limp. Bodyboarders tend to be humble, quiet, patient people, so learn to respect that instead of trying to win pissing contests and screw peoples girlfriends... not cool. I do have one question for you, though. Have you ever heard the name George Greenough? He may not have been a bodyboarder, per se, but he was a crucial part of the shortboard revolution who realized the fact all waveriders do at some point in their life. This fact is that it doesn't matter what you ride. He rode his mats most of his life and from the footage I've seen he CHARGED. Watch "The innermost limits of pure fun" and you'll see him ripping on one of his spoons. He is my biggest inspiration as far as surfing goes and the funny thing is he gave up stand up surfing a long time ago. I can't blame you though, I got a little juiced and threw up at the mouth on the oc inlet forum a while ago... so no harm, no foul. I think you should just learn a little bit about your sport before you go putting people down, because in this case every REAL waverider is laughing at your immaturity. And your spitting on the godfathers of bodyboarding, surfing, and kneeboarding, and I'm sure they don't appreciate that. Oh yeah and I wouldn't talk that **** around Delaware, cuz the b.boarders up there will put you in your place. Good luck with that ego issue of yours. Peace.
Well spoken Chuck and in Hatteras, if he were to make this statement around the local crew, he may not make it back to VB to surf crappy weak 1st street. I used to sponge Croatan in the 80’s but more often than not we went south. I only paddled out at 1st street for ECSC or ESA stuff. There is a solid boogie crew our age from VB and a few live down south now and have for many years.
So far this forum has been friendly and informative with none of the adolescent chest-thumping antics that pollute so many other surf related boards. Boner - your post was totally out of line - I suggest a quick mea culpa and a sobriety period next time prior to clicking the "send" button. Nobody needs to hate anybody on an electronic forum!
umm may i also remind you boner..if that is your real name.. us bbers have discovered some of your surfing meccas teauhpoo, the box, ours, cyclops, the list could go on and on. and also alot of surfers started as bbers, roach, kianoa mcgee(who charges pipe dk)and everyones favorite kelly slater the reason i choose to bb and not surf is i live in delaware, we dont have "surfing" waves ive seen three people my whole life try to surf dumps just to break something. so if you ever saw real bbers you may change your mind. so go away and be gay
Surfers or BBers, we have fun, it doesn't matter if your on your stomach or your feet. Do you think the wave thats pushing you gives a damn that your standing or or laying down NO. I personally surf, but hold no grudges against BBers, to each their own. Theres things that BBers do that you wouldn't ever catch me doing. Im not going to risk my board on big shoreys. And im not sure who it is was, but a couple months ago i was out im mid OC for some great swell, and a BBer was tearing it up, getting air, having fun, taking waves nobody else was taking. He finally gets out, and hops to his crutches, because he had one leg didn't stop him from having the time of his life. Theres more important things going on than to be mud-slinging because of peoples personial prefrences. All im saying is that we all have a passion for the ocean, and love riding waves. Why cant we all just get along ,(damn that was cheesy). Peace
Lets make a deal I love bodyboarding! and listen, what difference does it make to you what someones personal impression of fun is? Answer that for me. I guarantee you that I can stand up surf better than you will ever be able to, or 90 percent of stand up surfers on the east coast for that matter, yet I ride a bodyboard???? You have much ignorance going on in your mind. Grow up and respect people for being people. Or come have a surf off with me and Ill teach you some life lessions. GORN!
who cares, stop worrying about whatever somebody else is riding. I'll ride anything from a sponge to a longboard depending on the conditions and how I'm feeling/
refresing I'm so glad that the community has responded fast and furious to tell "boner" what an idiot he is. It is this attitude that translates to localism and bs like that. I surfed in warm waters during my teens and twentys. Then I moved to the North and gave it up. Whenever I traveled to a beach I body surf whenever possible...then I decided to get a wettie and a bodyboard so I could go i year round. I've had fun...now I'm buying a surfboard, but I can assure you that I will also carry my fins and bodyboard along....and sometimes, I will still just jump in the water and body surf again In the end is about the love of waves, the ocean and your fellow human beigns in the water...whatever they are riding... Peace,
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but its how you express them that matters the most... you didnt express your opinion very wisely. AND there are some bodyboarders who do actually stand up and dont need a surfboard to do so....Keep the negativity to yourself.
Yea bodyboards are gay enev though i am one we suck so all the mad cool surfers like this guy i bow down cause im a ***** bodyboarder lol o god happy now?
boner guy? hey jackle....i want your name now. these guys live in other states. i dont. keep talking your trash. whats your name? come on ***** boy...i am calling you out...my name is ricky miller i live in va...your a *****....i wasnt going to respond at all but you burned my boy tommy so its on....lets do this. if i dont see a response on here with your name by monday then we will all know whats really up....your just a boner. ricky miller BZ/MOREY BOOGIE/CHURCHILL
