    News programs (including the weather) ain't nothing but show. Make up words and phrases to sell ads. Freaking joke

    Not to be that guy..... But i just heard this on the radio this morning.

    Radio dude asks some meteorologist why they're always using new fancy words. Mentioned both polar vortex and this bomb cyclone/bombogenisis

    Meteorologists answer... these terms aren't new. In fact they are 50+ years old and in the text books. Thing is, meteorologist students see this stuff and because there in school and not in the field, they use these old terms and post on social media and whatever. Media outlets than use the terms.

    I'm no meteorologist. But when i first saw/heard bomb cyclone i thought that same thing as you guys. Found it interesting to hear these are old terms over 50 years old
