Just cleaned my board and rewaxed it using cold water wax. I went surfing and on most waves as soon as I planted my foot its gets stuck! Now anyone knows east coast waves you don't have alot of time to move ****. You have to get up and down the line and try to get some kind of turn or close out section manuver. Anyone else have this problem. It seems to get better the more I surf on that wax but I'm not putting anymore wax on my board, or use warm water wax?
Warm water wax may actually help your situation; cold water wax is really soft and therefore, really sticky. With the air still relatively warm and the water not really too cold yet here in Wilmington I've got mostly warm water wax on my board and it seems to work well.
I would consider what your experiencing to be a good thing. Traction = good Slipping = bad Just lift up more when your repositioning your feet....it's not glue after all
Its almost like glue. Its that sticky! The excel boots are good but them plus cold water wax equels stuck!
What brand of wax is it? I use Sticky Bumps and have no issues, i actually just switched to cold water wax and that stuff is sticky but it keeps me on my board, feet can move though.
I use sticky bumps but I think the cause was fresh coat wax on there and the warmer temp we have had. Its gotten better.
As others have said, cold water wax is soft and sticky. The more you surf with it, the harder/less tacky it will get. The good news is that once you have a coat on, you can just comb it out for the rest of the season. This is nothing out of the ordinary - just be mindful of your back foot until the wax hardens up a bit.
