Comparing Walmart to the auto industry is like comparing Apples to Turnips.

Those are some pretty bold statements. I would say that most surfers "think they need to be democrats" but in reality, local or national politics have nothing to do with ones passion or hobby. Right or left, neither have anything to do with surfing. And just because Al Gore is pushing global warming initiatives doesnt mean he is going to save your local beach when its on the chopping block one way or the other... And just because the right wing pushes guns and money, doesn't mean they are going to destroy your local break....

In the grand scheme of things, I would say what does Right or Left have to do with the price of tea in China with regards to surfing?

I would say you don't need to be a tree hugger to be a surfer...

You can slang junk stocks by day, get pitted in quadruple over head jersey slabs in the evening, and bang Hindus all night long. Its the american way...

You've missed the point altogether. Do you think all the auto plants shutting down along with the mom and pop stores is an accident? If you looked into this gov's trade policies you would understand. Last time I called my Internet provider I got some guy in India. You talk about maximizing profits and competitive markets. Do you think a Cadillac in China will have lower sticker price than the USA? Do you think if GM made less profit by building here and shipping to China would hurt their exec's lifestyle any? You have missed the point. You have failed to understand gov's role in this. Take the time to learn to learn about the North American Trade Agreement and and the General Agreement on Trades And Tariffs and you will understand why.

Its no accident that almost everything on store shelves was made overseas . You are probably too you to remember when America produced most of its goods and people were proud honest hard workers. It's what made this country so prosperous and great.

You may want to actually research a little better. Plants aren't shutting down in the automotive industry. There haven't even been many cut backs since 2009. Again, you know very little about the industry if you think GM could compete in China while importing from the US. This is the capitalistic society the people like Roy want. Rich are getting richer by using the free market. Every auto manufacturer does it. But hey, what do I know. I have only worked in the automotive industry for the last decade.

You say cutbacks since 2009. NAFTA was singned in 1994. Tell me than what happened in Detroit? Cuz what your saying no auto plants have been shut down there. I guess the auto plant in Linden NJ didnt shut down either and that my buddy that worked there for 25 years still has a job.Besides you are avoiding how this conjecture started in the first place. Things are not better in this country compared to 30 years ago. The # of people on food stamps has quadrupled in 10 years. You've only been in the auto industry for 10 years. What about before that. I don't care how Roy makes his money and if it's the free market, than tell me how it became free. Tell me if it benefits the child slave labor. Tell me where all the stuff in WalMart and Target come from. Tell me how the free market creates jobs in this country for the average American. Manufacturing jobs. Not minimum wage service jobs.

Just because you've worked in the auto industry for the past 10 years, doesn't mean you know that Americas economy is good. If you look into the trade laws I've mentioned and learned a little about how this country became so prosperous and why it is a sad shadow of its former self, you would understand where I'm coming from. Stop attacking what I say and take a step back and look into things. I'm only talking here so that maybe you will become enlighted. Just because things are good in your world doesn't mean there aren't many out there that are suffering from the free market brought on by NAFTA and GATT.

I have to correct myself, it's not the free market but the deregulated global trade market. making it free not fair.

I didn't make claims on how positive the free market is. That is your fellow conspiracy theorist Roy. He says we are a communist country and holding back capitalism, yet ignores the wealth distribution stating otherwise. I still don't agree with your assessment of the auto industry. I think the unions, poor management, poor quality, and lack of technological advancements really hit the auto industry. The fact remains that they are bouncing back. http://www.dol.gov/autocommunities/blog.htm

Well I can see your coming to some sense. You might have some valid points about the auto industry, but sending an American company overseas does not help our economy at all, it only benefits GM execs and their share holders.you were wrong about Roy. He said America is Faciast and sadly it has become that way. You can't argue there. He also said the EU is communist, and in many ways it is. The countries have lost their sovegrnty through the formation of the EU alliance and its monetary system.the public is at the mercy of a few individuals who own the global banks.

Roy says we are facist, communist, anti capitalism, etc...
If anything, we are too capitalistic. We let the rich and big financial corporations have their way, no matter what the cost. I don't think we are facist either. I am free to do what I want, when I want, and how I want. If you want true fascism, spend some time in China.

    Sorry but China is communist.

Perhaps you don't understand what fascism is? It is the merging of state and corporate power. Of course there are similarities between communism and fascism, and ultimately left vs right is meaningless when taken to extremes, but still there is a difference between communism and fascism.

You are making quite a habit of saying that I have written things which I have not.

Where did I say that a free market is positive? You seem to be deducing this from my comment that you live in a fascist state but it can't be deduced from that.

    I said neither.

    Do not misquote me.

When one attributes a statement to someone which they have not made and then proceed to attack their supposed opinion it is known as the 'straw man' tactic and is an unsound and illogical error in argument.

Learning to think should be the most important part of education, but it is neglected almost entirely, with the sort of result which you are posting, and worse.

Faciasim as defined by Musollini himself is the merger of government and corporations. The fact that our politicians except money from private interest for campaign funding makes them indebted to those interests once they get into office. Look up ALEC. The American Legislative Exchange Council. Also Obama recently signed the Monsanto Protection Act. This law gives Monsanto immunity from any law. Banker bailouts. The list goes on. You are right, we are corrupted by private institutions but you failed to recognize Faciasm.

Maybe you should read the definition. There is a lot more to fascism than you guys seem to realize.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

    Here is the origin:
Fascism (pron.: /ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism[1][2] that came to prominence in mid-20th century Europe. Fascists seek to unify their nation through a totalitarian state that promotes the mass mobilization of the national community,[3][4] relying on a vanguard party to initiate a revolution to organize the nation on fascist principles.

Maybe you should go back and read your Roy Stuart surfboard threads where you claim we are communists for being against your million dollar boards.
I enjoy your little snide remarks. Maybe you should stick to pretending you are an artist, instead of debating tin foil hat videos. Also, I would appreciate it if you didn't spam every surf forum with your boards. Not one person in this community, or any other surf forum, will be purchasing your yachts. I know what you are doing. More spam equals more google search returns and free advertising.

    Mr Zach,

Ahhh, but I no say that the surfer dude has to be a democrat. I just said that no real surfer can be a conservative. Let me quote the great Southern Californian philosopher, Jeff Spicoli, " Surfing's no hobby dude, it's a way of life, it's like looking at that wave and sayin 'hey bud, lets party.'" Conservatives just don't fit this mold.

As I said, republicans are either wealthy dudes or stupid dudes who idolize the wealthy and think that their conservative leaders actually give two hoots aboot them. For some reason the GOP is the party of "freedom", Jesus, and good ol' American values. But nothing could be further from the truth. They are all aboot big business and damn the rest. They fight for you to be born, but could care less aboot you after that. I don't think Jesus would leave a homeless, sickly person to die in the streets. Republicans would, even though they all "love" Jesus.

Where are all the Republican leaders fighting to get the government out of my life? Isn't that one of their mantras? I'm constantly oppressed by republicans.

Now, I used to despise all politicians, but considering America is a two party system and how insane and evil the republicans have become in the last 15 years, yes, I do support democrats by default. You can work with a democrat. Yes, they care aboot money, but they're nothing compared to the phoniness and utter hypocrisy displayed by the GOP.

I mean dude, Hermain Cain almost became the republican presidential candidate. The guy is a moron. He gets axed a simple foreign policy question and he stammers for two minutes, has to verfiy certain things with the reporter, and ultimately has NO response. Then he says things like "Uz beck becky Stan Stan......" This dude almost was The GOP's candidate!!

And Hey Zues, look at that whole primary field. Rick Perry might be dumber than George W. Bush. Michelle Bachman is not just stupid, but a bit crazy. Mitt Romney's a daddy's boy, pompous prick, Newt Gringrich isn't stupid, but he's a bit delusional and evil.

Republicans are a joke. Sarah Palin is a good example. And those "tea party" fools eat that stuff up. She is a complete phony. She's no "rugged, rough, American outdoorsman(woman)" She never hunted or fished before she came to national prominance. She's a complete fake. Look for articles that give a real clue towards her demeanor from hotel workers who have dealt with her. She's an arrogant b!tch. But she does have foreign policy credibility because "you can see Russia from Alaska."

Oh and I'm not worried aboot my beaches or homebreak getting ruined........I'm from New Jersey, dude, our coast has been trucked-over since the 1970's. Dirty, eroding, over-developed strips of sand........

Sorry to ramble, and I mean no disrespect to you, Zach. I respect you and your contributions to this here surf predicting website. But I'm an opinionated jerk. Sorry.
