    Hi,

I normally surf in maine but live in NH, I go to jenness and the wall, but want to go to rye rocks. It looks pretty intense when the swell picks up. Are the locals there pretty tough if a new guy gets in the water? also how is the current and rips, looks like it can get pretty hot when it gets good?

They can be very aggro there, if you can surf well and wait your turn you shouldn't have a problem. It can get very crowded. Its all about having fun, some people dont get that!

Aww man I miss surfing that spot...Fun rides and big too, but definitely one of the scariest waves I've ever seen....big, dark, and deep.

What he said. If there's big swell its usually locals only so unless you're good enough to hang with them...not to mention the sketch factor. You can definitely get worked if you don't know what you're doing. Minus a big swell you might be alright though. It really doesn't matter though considering how many other spots there are near by you could always paddle out somewhere else.

I've surfed there a-lot, and the wave is really nice, just if you're taking a right when its low-mid tide watch out for rocks. anything under 7 ft on a clean day should be fine for an intermediate surfer.
