SB civic league has a LOT of pull in VB. People do need to get involved but that only goes so far. There's too much money in tourism for the city to actively discourage it so the challenge is striking a balance. Its not a unique problem.

sandbridge will never be the oceanfront , bike path or not. It's to far away from 264, so unless they start talking about building an extension of 64 that runs directly from Chesapeake to sandbridge its never going to have the volume of people.

Thankfully the city dropped plans for the southeastern expressway which would have connected rural chesapeake and 264. It took about 30 years before they finally figured they'd never have the money or the go ahead from the EPA. A branch of it was supposed to connect to s'bridge rd around the surf and adventure surf shop. That would've sucked for the locals.

i still havent made it down there yet. i probably will venture down there in the fall. I have heard great things about sandbridge and hope it never turns into the ocean front. It would be kind of silly to have 2 different "ocean fronts" that are so far apart and in the same city

Haven't been there in years. Is it all built up now? I got a buddy down there, but he never mentioned it.
