Buoy reading today for NJ

as a science doode you know that agitated salt water can go lower than 28F. and still not freeze.

 

I am NOT worried about the freezing; not my point. Just that, under normal circumstances, readings are consistently 10F higher in your area compared to north of Cape Cod. But I guess the evidence is that it can apparently flipflop! That is a new one on me!!

 

Cape Cod is closer to the Gulf Stream, no?

 

Good point. However, I am talking inside the Cape--NH, Maine, etc.

Got some fresh data this morning... temp in the surf in Manasquan was 32F. Taken with accurate instruments, by a very brave colleague.

Water temp just inside the bay at Sandy Hook: 30F.

 

FOOKIN balmy.

 

I hope I can surf without duckdiving on Sunday. LOL.

its possible a good rain storm could help.

 

After a third duckdive on Wednesday, things would get rather unpleasant.

 

That would be nice. Right now it is 8*F, with wind chill it is -7*F. Not exactly warm and fuzzy.
Even if there was a swell running, I would pass on it.. too cold!! My limit is now 25*F. Any much lower than that and it is "Have fun boys!!"
