I'm thinking about going to California with 2 other guys who dont surf. we're looking to just chill and explore. what are some main destination in Cali to hit up where i can surf and they can still be entertained? Do i bring a board?? if anyone has ever been there and can give advice it would be appreciated. Also do they wear wetsuits over there in October? thanks

i guess i was a bit off. i looked up the noaa avg temps and the range in the lower 60s for the most part. but you never know... a drop in water and or air temps and you might be wanting more rubber...if you got room i would take it. i always play safer than sorry and it never fails

if you want to be entertained and get some surf go to Pacific Beach in san diego. a massive strip of bars restaurants and shops on garnet street and around that area. the surf is just a beach break and nothing to write home about but its right there and can be fun. good for if you are just looking to get out. and if you end up in PB go get yourself a burger and a beer at Rocky's after a surf. you will not be dissapointed

3/2 in San Diego & LA area. SD is a really good time I took my non-surfing girl there and we had plenty to stay busy. San fran is such a cool town but it is colder so a nice 3/2 or a 4/3 and the ocean is scary as F**k up there, but the waves are sick. I saw that head high glassy conditions were forecasted one day I was there but I couldn't see waves breaking from the beach through the fog. That was at like 2pm! That spot under the golden gate is so sick but don't even bother unless you know 10 locals or have 1000 sponsors. 1 take off, 100 surfers. Santa Cruz area so awesome. The waves are GREAT there and lots of state parks and nature stuff to do if your friends are into that. It's roughly half way between sf and sd. Best thing I did in cali is rent a Harley and cruised the redwoods for a day. AMAZING dude. Costs about $140/day.
