    sup yall,

i go to UT in austin, and finally, after four years, am heading down to the coast to try to get some third coast swell.

i'm joining some friends who are going down to galveston for two nights. i figure i would just rent a long foam board and hope for the best. it would be sick if some random swell came in i could rent a shortboard, but from what i've read online, that seems like a stretch. whatever foamies are fun.

anyone know a good spot to rent boards? also, how cold is it now - i was figuring i could bareback it on a longboard for sure, right?

    thanks
    calvin

Well you just missed 2 badass surf days down here in Galveston, Yesterday, and the day before. Its pretty much flat all of this week (spring break) so i dont know what to tell you. You can rent boards of the seawall in galveston for pretty cheap, so thats not a problem. You just need to watch the forecast and hit up some dawn patrol with a front coming in to get some clean waves. good luck

Yeah, unfortunately it's gonna be crud the next week... Sorry you have to be introduced to Texas surf when it is flat...

For future reference, the further south you go in Texas, the better the surf is... so if you do plan a surf trip, go to Corpus or SPI

Sloano, I can't speak for board shops in Galveston, but you can check out Wind n' Wave in Corpus, or Island Native in South Padre if ever you make it to those areas.

Water temps in TX are mid-60s right now, just wear a longsleeve guard and you're set if you do make it out soon.
