    Actually...

Based on a recent surf safari in the Morro Bay area, I feel like it's effectively "there". I listened to a pretty serious conversation about techniques in pot farming while checking the waves. I'm talking about a plant in the backyard, but a full-out crop cycle. Pretty interesting, I had no idea it had come that far. Don't really care one way or the other personally since I don't touch the stuff (in the military), but I just was surprised.

I wouldn't get too excited... I did at first until I read further about it. It's already clear that the house will NOT pass it...

    CA house of delegates...

As a refugee from NCal, I can tell you that pot use is much more prevalent and accepted there, even among older folks. Grow your own has been going on a long time, plus most of the pot sold in CA medical pot stores is NCal grown. It is quite a little economy to itself. Many of my friends had a "Doctors Letter" so they could buy at the pot clubs.

The pressure for true legalization is due to the dire financial straits CA is now in. The present administration would like to legalize it and tax it to help balance the budget.

Outlandish as it may seem on the east coast, this bill could actually pass in CA, and the gubernator says he will sign it if it passes...

After november, when we legalize it, other states will follow the medical licensing trend. And yes, everything in CA that people buy is all grown in-doors in SoCal, or outdoors up in Humbolt country. I have friends who drive up there in the fall and help crop like thousands of acres of buds. It is a full on industry up there. Always has been, but with all the store front weed shops popping up down south in SoCal, NorCal is in the middle of a literal CA GOLD RUSH. Seriously, I know people making a KILLING on this stuff. I know a guy who owns a medical marijuana shop in SD... He drives a Bid Cadillac SUV. Started his own record label and walks around with 100K in jewelery on. And he runs a SMALL one. It used to be more of a risk to run a place like that, but now that OBAMA promissed to call off his dogs, its a Free for all out here...

But honestly, the one thing I think is funny, and this is just my opinion, is that MORE people smoke weed back east. Everytime I visit DC and Baltimore, all my old friends are still calling their friends and buy bags of Swag and rolling up blunts... Its almost like iN CA because its legal, no one really care. Only a few of my close friends even smoke. Surfers too. Not many surfers I surf with smoke either... When things are no longer illegal, it takes away the "sexy" aspect of everything... I just feel like my people back east are still rolling blunts all day and out here its an every once in a while thing for most.

But, didnt Boston and all of MA just "decriminalize" Marijuana, much like NYC did years ago... A lot of the East coast has pretty lax weed laws already, but smaller town elsewhere in the states will lock you up and throw away the key. NYC has been writing WEED tickets for over a decade.

I hit a cross road a few years ago, where I had to decide to continue working legally in the community and keeping my real career, or going off with a friend of mine who bought a huge growing space out here and now he opened a medical shop... I would have gotten involved in it, but I have always been afraid of somehow publicly being linked to it in the local media and then I would not be in a good position as far as my career goes. Although its legal, its a shady industry to be in. If I was 22 and not 29, I would probably start doing it tomorrow. People are making a ridiculous amount of money. You can produce about 14-20K worth of wholesale bud in 3 months in about a 400 square foot Studio Apartment. With about a 1000 investment to start it. A few lights, a small space and three months later you have a down payment on a house... Makes ya think about it.The whole state is in the shady in between status os legality, where technically its legal to do, but the government keeps its hands out of it right now, so there are really no regulations being enforced. Its literally the wild west. The feds dont want to touch it. Local governemtn agreed to stop interveining, so right now, people are just making millions under the table. The state isnt getting anything from it now, so we will see how long it lasts before they step in and start taking their cut... Right now, Legal weed shops are operating legally, but then purchasing TONS of weight, and on the side, they are illegally distributing it to. Its basically a front. A legal front and a way to Legally sit on like 50 pounds of product and the shops just dont process paperwork on most of it. No taxes... In the back door, out the front.... Tons of cash. Its nuts
