Calm before the storm my friend, careful what you wish for, you of all people should know this. You done cleaning up yet? If so, glad things are back to "normal" (as normal as it could get)
Cmon! don't make me feel regret for making a joke! haha. yeah but you are absolutely right DP... Im done with the reno and now just moving furniture and other living items back into place... so let me rephrase my jokey... its cane season... where the h e ll are all the ground swell generating, non land threatening hurricanes???
today the guy on the w-channel said - with respect to our swell window - its vacation weather EVERYWHERE!
Glad to hear the reno is complete. Didn't mean to make you feel regret, just trying to help you avoid another disaster is all. With respect to the hurricane season, we haven't gotten any named storms to send us any waves yet, but I did get in some really fun surf the past two weekends, so it's not all bad... at least around these parts it aint.
yup...time to fix dings, make $$$, get caught up on the "honey do" list, & keep active in other ways. oh, & don't forget to freshen up the wax on the log...
I'm pumped. First year surfing, just started up, maybe some decent stuff coming our way sometime soon. Can't say I've even been to the beach during or right after a hurricane, pretty excited. I'm getting bored with white water mush. Oh, and this is my 187 post.
If it's your first year surfing chances are you'll be sitting on the beach watching while the experienced surfers do their thing... That or you'll paddle out only to find that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Very different when a Cane rolls through, nothing like you've ever encountered. Be safe whatever you do, don't go in over your ability level. I've been the inexperienced kook paddling out on days I had no business out on and I can tell you from experience it's terrifying if you don't know what you're doing. You'll want to wait for the clean up day when it's around chest - head high at max to get your feet wet. Once you've done that a few times you'll start to feel more confident on the real days when the beach is maxing out. I saw a guy drown on a 6-8 foot day at New Smyrna couple years ago, wasn't even a Cane out there, it was a little TS or TD if I recall that wasn't even close to us that sent some fun waves, well fun for most...
I don't want to drown, I like life, and I really want to surf some serious stuff someday. Chest high and under, I read you loud and clear.
just heard that cause of el nino nj is supposed to have a cool summer(yeah) but with minimal tropical activity (booooo)…..if my next sesh really IS in october, well, its off to vunabaka (and i don't even know what it is) for me….
you're gonna get smoked! not for any reason other than you have yet to experience the power. enjoy it!
