yuck dude. Ever been to lake sutton? There are signs all over that basically say if you touch the water you will die a slow painful death. And that is next to the coal ash dump.
i thought cape fear was Australia...…… I don't live in a disaster area,i was in the water Saturday and sunday here in the dirty dirty.they said the same shit about sandy,i was in the water like 3 weeks after,im still alive so.. but we didn't have to deal with flooded farms, thats a whole other ballgame.dont know how close it is to the ocean,i imagine maybe lakes and rivers get polluted for a bit.id be more concerned with the pork market,i can see a recall happening very soon
just stop... those pig photos are from Floyd in '99. We've been at Sutton since the breach almost 2 weeks ago...part of that time in jon boats...I wouldn't swim in the lake but you certainly won't die if you fall in.. two days ago Cape Fear River ph was 5.5, DO was 0.5...definite fish kill going on in Greenfield Lake and reports of that in the river WB water not too bad, unfortunately there are no sandbars
DO: dissolved oxygen..too low is a big stressor to aquatic life ...recommended standard for Cape Fear River's existing classification is 5 mg/L. So 0.5 is no bueno. However; due to years of upstream pollution, there's lots of times when the DO dips below 5.0...probably more often than not. Recently there was a push to try and have the Cape Fear reclassified as a swamp from Navassa to Snows Cut so there could be a lower threshold for DO, pH, etc...thankfully the EPA shot down that bs.
I saw a lot of people out in WB, water looked pretty clean. Good waves too. I think anywhere north of WB would be ok, any where south I would/am going to wait till they lift the advisories on coastal rivers. Its brown town right now.
HELL or high water i'm going to get wet before work tomorrow. If not I may need to get a gym membership ha. Just kidding I would never do that. You know the feeling, when you have been on dry land for far too long. In the back of your head you're thinking... do i remember how to surf? Yes dummy, ya do. I can't wait for that first moment of weightlessness. Paddle a few times and feel the power of the ocean left my body and my spirits. Solar energy traveled 98 million fucking miles to make the wind blow and create a wave just for me. Damn I can't wait. I'm 11 hours at the office and a goods nights sleep away from my first surf in almost a month. I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. Yeah it's gonna be tiny, but that's why I have 9 feet of foam to ride on. Happy Thursday ladies and gents. Hippy rant over. Time to make that $$.
