Sell all your shit and move to San Diego.

Best decision I ever made. I Surf like 5/7 days a week. The two days I don’t are cuz I’m usually surfed out of my nipples are tore up

Solid perspective. Thanks for the advise. I'm trying to reduce regrets in my life and alleviate strife from any areas, and one of the only areas that I have any strife is my job.

Whenever I got sick of where I was working, I grinded it out whilst looking at other opportunities.

It's so much easier to get a job when you're already employed

An employer doesn't want anyone on staff whose bored or unhappy with the job. Many times it affects the morale of others and/or the profit margin. Perhaps you are misinterpreting the perspectives of your peers and superiors. It is quite common. Maybe create a t-chart listing what you find boring/miserable about your job on one side, and what you find challenging/invigorating on the other side. Once analyzed, seek to balance the chart on your own. If you fail, take your problem to your superior and request assistance. It may open up a new avenue for you within the company, one in which does not even currently exist. Proper communication is key.

Thanks Merx, if the new boss didn’t straight up tell me that the VP, the guy who hired him said they weren’t a fan of my situation I may agree but that was one of the first things he said to me when I met him face to face, this after I just finished telling him how greatful I was to be in my position after 14 years with the company.

Did he elaborate, offer any details? If not, perhaps request a meeting with the VP.

Yeah man. Work is work. I enjoy what i did, but it's not a passion or anything. I mainly only enjoy it really because it keeps me active throughout the day. So as far as enjoying a job, it doesn't matter in my opinion. If it allows you to surf and you can tolerate it then that's it.

Now if you think your job is going to try and replace you. That's a diffrent story. Id start looking for other opportunities. Just be ready to make the move IF it comes to that. I wouldn't make a jump though unless you were 100% sure they were planning on dropping you. You got a sweet set up.

I will say this though. You can still surf no matter what. I do it. Getting a job that's more restrictive then what you have now doesn't mean you cant surf weekdays. Might be tough sleep wise, might have to paddle out in the dark, but where there's a will there's a way

It was something that was agreed on with prior management before they were hired to take over. So they inherited my situation. Being that I was the only person on the team doing it, it seemed odd to them. He also said that he planned to “clean house” and rebuild the team. So far he has fired 3 people in the last year. One person had been with the company slightly longer than I have, this was a couple weeks ago. It came out of nowhere.

It's all about balance bud. I'm a teacher. I just drove to Mexico and back spending the last 2 months surfing Mainland. Oh was it sweet. But now I'm about to go back to the grind.
I don't get paid all that well...but I live 10 minutes from the beach.....
My job can be hard....but I am helping out kids who need a lot of help
M-F school year surfs are limited to the afternoon when it's usually blown out or already flat
....but I have a week in fall and spring and 2 weeks over holidays to take a vacation
I drive a 35 year old truck.....but I don't care about nice things and nobody will ever steal my truck

etc, etc, etc.....Everything's not perfect but I know how good I have it. Sounds like you have it pretty darn good too....but only you can decide that. Maybe compare your work/surf/stress situation with some other like minded guys and gauge it from there---cheers good luck

I think it is beyond difficult for anyone to properly advise you on this matter, other than those you currently work with, of course. You have a chain of command. Follow it and remain positive at all times.

Kids will change the dynamic DP. If you're serious about change, best to test the waters before the pitter patter of little feet. I am locked into my job to do right by my kid, and am definitely getting really old for hard labor, BUT, like yourself, am a few minutes walk to the ocean. Its all about perspective.

I think I need to take a trip to DP land and clean HIS fuckin house.... sounds like a comedy movie level asshole to me. Bro’ know this: we always have more to offer and are worth more than what most employers will ever let on. Whatever comes down the pipe you can handle.
