Worst interview ever (and I haven't done one in eons due to networking skillz) they asked me to tell them a joke. I didn't want to go all dirty so after an eternally long awkward pause I asked them What do you call a dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac? A: A man who lies awake at night and wonders if there really does exist a Dog?!? Spoiler alert.....I didn't get the job LOL
lol. i throw oddball questions like that in my interviews. things like: How would you rate me as an interviewer? How you you describe the color blue to a blind person? How would you move mt fuji?
Well guys and Betty, looks like I have to start looking for employment. I was just let go after 14 years with the company. Nobody on the team hit goal last month, but they fired me since I was the only one working remote. If anybody knows of a good opportunity in Brevard County or working remote, please let me know. Keep your head up and make finding a job a 9 to 5 job until you find a new gig. You'll find something better, more rewarding and fulfilling. Where people appreciate your skills.

DP, I’m there too ... and at 47 I’m not liking it but it’s SO FUCKIN TRUE - things like this force us to realign our self value and do a real good self check. And what you find is exactly what SDog said: your worth more to someone else and will be better appreciated. I’m just waiting for walking papers and grinding what I can until sale goes through. Thoughts and good wishes are with you Brother.

Sorry to hear that news DP, I joined this discussion late. Don't have any job leads but I remember my father getting laid off in his late 50s - I was talking to him after he got another job and he laughed, said he wished they had done it sooner , his new gig made him much happier. JTS
DP, sorry to hear you were let go, but echo SiSDog, WBF, and CyC. This "crisis" is the beginning of a new opportunity, and a " course update" on your life's journey. Charge the "new break" hard, we know you'll dial it in and make the drop and enjoy the ride. Prayers and God speed!
BTW I will throw this out since this thread is about jobs/employment. I retired in April after 32 plus years with a company in Virginia (Newport News Shipbuilding). About half the company will be eligible to retire over the next 5 years so they are hiring big time in all areas skilled labor, Manufacturing, IT, Engineering. Huntington Ingalls Industries. One of the things I liked is the variety of work and projects available - over 3 decades I worked with Submarines, Shipyard Facilities, Aircraft Carrier Design, IT Projects so I never got bored. Steady work, decent pay, good benefits. I appreciate all the kind words and motivating tips. I haven’t looked for a new job since my early 20’s. This should be interesting getting back out there. I last smoked herb yesterday so I have to get my piss clean ASAP.
DP, despite the fact that I sometimes want to challenge you to a duel, I'm sorry to hear this man. Let me offer this...a whilst back, before I was on here, I spent about a year and a half collecting unemployment. It was stressful in a sense, like getting a jobbe eventually, but I manage to do so much stuff, important stuff...got my niece off the bus and did the after school thing, never had t leave my dog, hiked somewhere different ever day, and went cross country for 3 weeks...w/ 2 hundo in my pocket. Earn what you can on the side, collect for a while(after all, you paid into it), and all will fall into place.
SS, differences aside, thank you for the positive vibes, it means more than you guys know. I will be applying for unemployment and looking for a new gig in the meantime. You guys are making this a little easier at the moment. I just hope bills can be taken care of and we can stay afloat till I get back on my feet.
