got the racks on the ol Jag recently, so it was only a matter of time before i take a surf trip. not this wknd but the next, got a beach house booked up in the heart? of Carolina Beach, def close to the bars and that's where my heart generally is. I've surfed Wrightsville a couple times before and would like to avoid their traffic n north'ners, so pretty much trying to stick to Carolina. Waist hi predicted. I've looked over old forum posts, but mostly dem comparing the two spots. DIdn't see much on certain spots in Carolina, tho i did see the northern part is generally better but all the way up to Freeman Park? I'll take some advise from the SI crew, pm me if ya don't want to give out any "secret" breaks, i'm not with WannaSurf so it'll stay on the low. Also will be stopping by a few places on the way up, so any side advise about Holden Beach would be appreciated too (never tried that one) - thanks ppls

also, accuweather gives out 90 day forecasts. weather chnnl gives out 15 day forecasts. can't wait for surf websites to provide 15 day forecasts or even 30 day forecasts. Lotta surf trips would be planned accordingly with such knowledge given some, even a little assurance waves would be in tow. just a thought

Surfline pro is like 17*. (Just checked)

Imho you can't predict weather 90 days out accurately, hence ACCUweather is rendered a misnomer...

Id support a "vagueweather.com" website, if it had a forumme. Oh wait... where am I?

I think the Farmer's Almanac predicts the weather for the whole year. Check with them. Been around longer than Barry too.

I've surfed Wrightsville a couple times, we always went to access 4 and got there early. Crowds were never bad and people were cool. Even when it was a little more crowded, people were pretty spread out. Good luck and have fun!

CB is a much more friendly place than WB. In fact, I avoid WB at all costs if the air temp is above 65 degrees. The parking shuffle alone is enough to keep me away. You should be fine surfing out front of your beach house. The "spots" around the area are minimally better than the spaces in-between. Unless it's a south swell, just skip holden.

i guess it is minimally better elsewhere. haven't heard anybody brag out a spot in Carolina, so that would make some sense

You may want to avoid Hamlet. (And that's where the bars are.) That's where surf camps and surf schools gather. It is a friendly break though. No schools and its a mellow break. Any place between marker 10 at Freeman Park and Fort Fisher will work on any given day. No real "sacred" spots on "Pleasure Island;" Some may say otherwise... I'm a northender because I'm lazy... If my place was in Kure I'd be a southender.

    Have fun!

thx for the 'vice Screwby. i can't send you a PM tho cuz your mailbox is full on da quota per SI message. but here you go so i don't have to retype: i was aiming to get a Jag around those years, but saw this '95 one that fit the bill for me. Also, the '95 was praised by Jag afficianados for its reliability and relatively modern sleek design. The problem with 21st century ones you're looking into is the transmission issue. Just about every one of them will run into that issue, so its best to see if they already fixed that ($2k-3k). As far as the engine, mine's running fine. The issues are the gauges (speedometer not working, fuel gauge is in flux, and the electronic odometer stopped working- supposedly 124k miles). Serious enough to reconsider it being a daily driver. other small issues are window regulator went out (they do just about for any car tho), and the sunroof's sliding mechanism isn't operating. As far as the driver and the compliments i get, i don't regret the purchase. But watch out for that transmission issue with yours, it's not an issue with my model. I'm about a month in, so i'm sure i'll figure out some more "hidden gems" haha

Thanks, UnfurleD. You and twenty other people talked me out of a Jag. It was for one of my sons and didn't have to be a daily driver per se, but couldn't be a money pit for him at this point in his life either. Both cars were gorgeous though.

ha, i was wondering what this thread was about. The surf Jag is at the shop this week, hoping to roll down the driver side window for the summer. of course, we got the wrong part. Jag still lives tho. As far as CB, awesome first day!!! Was my bday, went in the middle of the tony silva school n the pier (away from dem locals) and scored for about 5-6 hrs straight that morning - chest hi's, glassy, just an amazing time. it started chopping up after that tho, did run out to Ft. Fisher i believe - got a bit rocky as well as the board (big dent) but an interesting break. I def agree with most here that CB is better than Wrightsville. Buncha rednecks which is completely familiar to me. bout got myself in a pickle with a real drunk woman sitting next to me n her shirtless boyfriend banging on the outside windown all while i was enjoying the view of the bar's mantle piece - a 9" Dale Earnhardt #3 blade
