Hurricane Marie is spinning at 160mph currently. How good will the swell be in SD?

Wow there really are no west coasters on SI aside from Gaff and the good braddahs of the PNW (kidrock, mattybrews, NWsquid et al). Potential for pure macking surf for days in the PAC and no one cares. The Atlantic might maybe possibly cough up a bump sixteen Saturdays from now and it's the talk of the town until.

No one even cares that this is a cat5 even if you're 3k+ miles away? Bros, zach says these swells will hit reefs coming from the south unlike the winter swells hit. This is a surf event you should be aware of.

We've been surfing every day. I'm on the WC pretty often. Here now, actually. Do you really wanna hear about how good it's been? Last week was HH+, glassy, and barreling with tropical swell, the week before that, the same. This weekend was a barrelfest from a southern hemi. Today was a few feet OH and fun with a little sideshore texture. I think it was sorta flat for a few days back in May or June.

Tomorrow will be a few feet OH at dawn and TOH by sunset. I'll be dawn patrolling and getting shacked off my nut at a sick beachbreak before it gets really crazy. Wednesday-Thursday all the once-every-few-years reefs will be blowing up from Ventura to SD. Wedge will be epic. ********* **v* will be all-time. I'll probably go to my favorite left-hand point/reef because my homebreak will be too big. I expect big clean DOH left-handers and a scattered crowd.

You want a report when it's all done?

The reason you aren't getting much response is this is primarily an East Coast site, plus they are surfing their asses off right now and even if they had the time they probably wouldn't bother because most are so jaded from getting good surf on the regular. We get hyped for 3ft windswell "events", because we're wave starved in comparison.

I personally never want to be jaded like that. I enjoy getting pumped for just a rideable day. The day I look at a rideable wave and turn my back and walk away is the day I begin to die. After that, it's never gonna be the same. Surfing means too much to me to even consider that, but who knows, maybe getting shacked everyday takes it's toll on you and the novelty wears off, kind like dudes that get tired of banging the same hot chick after a while...
