Forums, like the stock market, have periods of correction... 9 times out of 10 it's for the better.

I've been too busy this whole month to really read any of the craziness. One thing I have been bummed about is the absence of session reports. I mean, HATTERAS AND MOST AREAS NORTH HAVE BEEN GOING OFF!!!! Come on folks, it's been flat down here in the Ilmy except for a sneaker pulse in CB/KB the other afternoon and I've been too damned busy to surf. Hook a brother up...

Speaking of which... did anyone get on that CB pulse (I think it was) Wednesday afternoon?

 

I'd put my money on that you are Rcarter (or someone like minded).

Here is the thing that is unavoidable by the multi screen name hacks that have ruined the surf content of this site.... the biggest objectors to bringing in mods and regulating content will be the ones who are posting all the crap that has taken over this online surf community. Legit members, certainly after 6+ months of this will most likely welcome some regulation by admins.

 

Of course YouRuinedtheSI is Rcarter. He's very upset about being banned. This forum meant everything to him.

Your right Erock. If banned people can just come back like Rcarter has done, what's to stop the hate posting?

MFitz I would agree that some things have been a bit crazy and the thread hijacking should stop as it does no one any good. I would welcome some moderating but I think that calling someone a name or insulting them is part of being an American citizen and an adult. Who could you complain to on the street if some one called you a bad word or said nasty things about your mom? No one, you would have to take care of it yourself and use your own words. Now taking over someones thread with posts of food lists (RISurfer) or starting your own argument with another member inside someones thread should not be allowed (lots of members guilty on this) and it should be squashed quickly. And to say again YouRuniedtheSI is not Rcarter but it is probably someone who is upset with the current state of SI, you guys figure out what state that is, pre MSW invasion or post MSW invasion.

 

TunerFish, we here you. We know Rcarter is back under another name.
Maybe we should just ban him again, but he hasn't been trying to cause problems, so its we haven't really felt compelled. But, yes, we are taking steps, thanks.

 

I'm not trying to cause any trouble I promise. Just wanting to keep up with what my buddies are posting and see how the MSW situation pans out. I have added Tunerfish to my ignore list so I will not be tempted to get sucked in to arguing with him. My biggest issue with him is that even though as I have said we may have been wrong to try and "invade" MSW, and agree we need some change around here, Tuner has come here to try and shape SI in to another MSW and that bothers me. SI Admin I know you have seen it in the past, members argue, work it out and are now Bros. Example me and Emass, last June I made horrible threats to him, now he is my buddy, Charles Taylor and I went round and round before finding common ground talking about martial arts training and now I even complimented his wooden fish he built. All I'm saying is sometimes hate can lead to a friendship.

 

that's great! sounds like you should have no problems at all with the regulations that the mods are going to start implementing! The forum is shaping up already.

 

Bros, if 2 or 3 people just want to argue back and forth, you should exchange emails and it will be much more convenient, and leave the rest of us out. We are taking steps to clean up the forum. We definitely ignored a lot of stuff in the past, and were not going to go back weeks and start give out penalties and figure out who was the worst for all the stuff we missed, but moving forward we are going to try to be diligent.

First of all I have never been banned, ever. I used to come here to contribute and learn, now I just read the BS. Not sure why you are attacking me when we seem to be in agreement here. I'm in no way affiliated with Rcarter. He and his followers are the main reason I stopped posting, and maybe that's why I'm posting under a different name. How you or anyone can read my posts and say I am Rcarter is ridiculous. My point was there is no way to stop anyone from changing name and posting, as we have seen with Rcarter. I made the same point as someone above, who is also attacking me when we seem to be in agreement, when I said Rcarter seems passionate about surfing, and agrees things got out of hand. So let's all stop the attacks and talk about reports, boards, fins, wetsuits and surfing.
I'm a member of a fishing forum where I gained a ton of knowledge and was able to pay it forward to others over the years. I while back I came here to learn more from people who know more. But every post was hijacked, made fun of, and taken off topic. So I stopped. There are some BASSholes on that site too but most members brush it off and keep the forums going about the topic at hand. Forums are self policed by ignoring rather than attacking. I'm no way affiliated with anyone who is or has been banned. Would like to read and learn more about surfing, we all have something to offer, and help those I can.

Why does everyone think they are "my followers" I have stated many times I am following in the hate trail blazed by Yankee, SJB/PJB and many others who came before. No one was as shocked as me to see a thread in my honor yesterday, hell last summer I was public enemy # 1 on here.

You just say being a **** (insulting people) is part of being an American citizen. That is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. It's certainly your right, but "part of being an American citizen and an adult" means it is required.

 

No it most certainly does not mean it is required. You assume something then try and talk crap to me (careful that may get you an infraction) and act like I'm the bad guy? It means that it is your right, this thread was/is about freedom of speech and my point was disagreeing with someone and/or arguing with them about that is an American tradition.

Please stop worrying about it so much. Obviously the admin is letting you stick around. Therefore, you got away with all the hate/crazy talk. So why push it? Besides, its Saturday, take your kids to the beach or something. Go surf. Write a poem. Hug a tree.
