Has anyone ridden any shapes like these? I'm really interested in trying one out, I want to ride something weird and different to mix things up a bit.
You want something weird and different? Build your own and you'll get what you're after... either on purpose or by accident. Either way, you win!
The Wizard Sleeve is a good wave board. If you're looking for something "weird" that can work in more day to day waves look for a Tomo. I don't know where you are located but he has two shapes available by Firewire that should be available pretty much anywhere. Get the Vanguard
+1 looked at one a while back...didn't pull the trigger because it is not a versatile board...chest and up from the description
Look into the Chemistry Beaker Comp. Fun small wave/summer board with a drawn in rounded pin (with double wing). wish mine had a quad option though. the wizard sleeve isn't what you think it is.
i had a wizard sleeve for a bit. got for cheap on the used rack. it wasn't a bad board, but i didn't particularly jive w/ it...in the kinds of conditions it thrived in, i still like a bit more rail line in the water.
Thanks for the input guys. I've been looking into shaping a board and plan on doing it here pretty soon. It seems like it's a win win no matter what. I've been looking at the Tomo Vanguard for a while now, it looks like a lot of fun and It seems to have garnered a lot of positive feedback. I'm living in Santa Barbara, there was one used, but the dude thrashed it pretty good and wanted way to much for it. I know the Wizard Sleeve is designed for better surf, I was just curious about how it rides and boards of similar shape/style. It's all subjective. Everyone rides and feels boards differently, but I still like to hear what other peoples opinions are. Cheers and happy surfing.
I once surfed with pollioni the younger and he thought the wizard sleeve was really weird and didn't seem happy or surfing to his normal insane level.i'm thinking it's for great surfers on great waves, where anything works.
