There is a symbol on that flag - a symbol with an undeniable legacy. To refute that is to refute the existence of symbolism itself.

Think about what your saying - would you go to Israel and wave a Nazi flag around? How would you feel about people burning American flags on memorial day, in protest of war?

The U.S. flag carries connotations of freedom and imperialism, and the Confederate flag carries.connotations of rebellion and slavery. To deny that is to deny reality.

The Confederacy didn't kill 30 million Africans, period. The Confederates didn't wage worldwide war in an ill-advised attempt to spread their vision of genetic superiority. Jefferson Davis was not Hitler. Your comparisons are utterly ridiculous.

The Confederacy and the Civil War were fought over politics and differing views of how the Union (or Republic) should be run. However, some poorly-informed people continue to believe (incorrectly) that the whole thing was over slavery, and refuse to acknowledge that slavery was merely a peripheral issue...a peripheral issue that I personally find detestable. Lest you forget, the North continued to keep slaves until shortly before the end of the war. Why does that fact always escape race baiters?

You can't have a short version... The disagreements between states rights and federal rights was brewing for years ..yes slavery was a subject matter because it was the time and era hot topic but the jist of the matter was sc didn't want someone else to tell us what to do, how to do it and when to do it... Slavery would have ended eventually either way, the institution of slavery anywhere in the world is horrid.. Human beings were meant to be free... But I can guarantee you a war would have been fought whether there were or were not slaves... The majority of confederate soldiers that fought had little to do with slavery...slaves were held by rich landowners possibly only 3-10% of of the souther population. Sorta like today's 10% .confederate soldiers fought for their state, their family and their land. History is shaped by those that write it...if it was so much about slavery why did the north drag their feet on freeing them? Abey Lincoln didn't issue the Emancipation Proclamation til 1863. Three years deep into the war, kinda strange if the federal troops were "liberators" why didn't their leader liberate them? Should have been his first executive order don't you think? Naw old Abe was shrewd when he used it Lee was marching northward the war was a stalemate and could have gone either way, his issuance was a moral booster only to swing the war
