watched it last night cuz of the forum…did not like that jeff clark was never mentioned the guy who pioneered that wave, thats who the movie should have been about
The movie wasn't about the the 1st person to discover and ride Maverick's. It's about Jay Moriarty and his story. Kinda sucks you missed that...
look what I found (for those who want Jeff Clark's story): http://www.surfersvillage.com/surfing-news/59526#.UXAsocpXr4g
The movie was meant to be watched by all kinds of people and not just surfers, and considering that, there was a pretty good amount of surf scenes. I thought it was pretty good
I will have to watch it again. it was okay at best, but I didn't expect much out of it... Had kind of that "North Shore" mentor/surfer storyline. I agree with the drug dealing classmate being the worst character ever invented, but it really wasn't terrible. I wish they would have made a little more out of his actual death at the end, rather than a vague one liner about him dying over seas. I would have rather seen a movie about Mark Fu or something like that with an epic/tragic ending having to do with Mavericks.... I think Jeff Clark certainly deserves a screen play at some point, and with all the camera action he has gotten over the years, he could play himself. Now that would be badass.... Or, the Kelly Slater story, starring Kelly Slater!!!!
