Chasing Mavricks??

I gonna start a casting call soon for the newest surfing movie. It will be called NOYA. I still need main characters Lee (protagonist) and Yankee (antagonist) The final scene will be an epic battle for waves in Va beach in mid-July. Special cameo appearance by Gary Busey as South Jetty Bill....

 

He's gone completely off his rocker with crazy conspiracy theories and such. He's been out at Montauk a couple times this Summer. he's back in Mexico now. He would be perfect to write a screenplay based on the wackos on this site. (Including you and I)

 

Point Break was great - they pulled off combining a "surf movie" with "cops 'n robbers" movie and it was entertaining. Keanu Reeves can't act his way out of a paper bag, but he's been in some decent flix.

Does anyone remember the big wave movie "In God's Hands"? Other than the big wave surfing shots, that movie was so painful to watch. The acting was so bad in that movie they made Keanu Reeves performance in "Point Break" look award-winning.

 

Throw Gruvi & AKA Pumpmaster in there, mounted on Wavejets & circling the other, each with APS Underwater Assault Rifles, and now you've got a hit on your hands.

 

How old are you guys who are bashing a surfing movie that you know you will go see. Do you guys even know who Jay Moriarity is? Do some homework and learn something besides the garbage they teach you in school!
First off, Point Break is one the best surf movies. Going further back, North Shore isn't bad either and Big Wednesday's surfing scenes where way ahead of its time. Now, worst movie prob ever made has to be, In God's Hands. That thing is brutal to watch!
Keanu Reeves is not that bad of an actor, thats just his style, stoned! Its kind of like Mathew Mcconaughey. Everyone bashes his acting but its just cause he is from Texas and talks like a dumb redneck.

What if after the premiere, some central cali kook just paddles out at Mavericks on his NSP funsshape after being so pumped by the movie, and then just gets obliterated?

 

North Shore was epic! I enjoyed point break too, but both are period pieces. You have to look at them from 80s, and then 90s tinted glasses. Keanu can't act. He looks like he is reading from a cue card the whole movie. I think that kindve ads to the charm.

 

I'll probably download it and watch it.. doesn't seem great, but hey watching mavericks is cool.

 

I have seen the trailer, i have my opinions on all of this, i just hope im wrong and the film does Jay Moriarity and his life justice. People keep talking about the money that was thrown at this project, worst case scenario is we get some unbelievable footage of a gnarly ass wave.

That butt crack skim boarder made me and my son laugh for like 10 minutes. But, yea, what I really need is a crappy surf movie while it's been flat for 2 weeks. The Grant Washburn doco on Mavericks is really good though.

 

Look its time to make a sponger movie. It should be cast with some rich guy from newport beach. Like he will cheat on his stuffy wife with a sponger chick and live in a van with her at the wedge.Then he will rack himself on the rocks and be at the hospital and stuff. Then the girlfriend ,wife ,and richer will all live together.Then they will start a sponger shop and start a prison release program and teach ex felons to sponge. Everyone will be happy,in the sun and free. L.A. and O.C. will get married together, as one love, one life.

All "hearsay" but they supposedly had really good "advisers" for the project, and the mavericks crew earned big bucks for stunts and water safety. They lost more than one hi def camera rig to outside sets.

And Gerard Butler was coked out of his mind when he thought he would get a closer look - only to get spanked and whisked to the hospital.

So if the movie is as good as the back stories - maybe it will be decent. I'm hopeful they honor Jay.

Jay M was badass......If this movie is typical Hollywood, it will piss off surfers worldwide.

It's been flat surf here for 2 weeks.
Flat ocean is very depressing for me.
I'm vowing not to see it until the ocean is pumping.
