Guess I am showing my age but we used to live on cases of Miester Brau and Old English 800 40's. True OE is a malt liquor but was cheap and packed a punch. http://patandmaggie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/eddie.jpg http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com/images/photos/oe800sky.jpg
"ICE COLD BEER" Three beautiful words when combined in such a manner. Coors was preferred, but it really didn't matter. I recall an old wooden sign with those words years ago while driving along a rural road in Central CA with some college pals one hot summer afternoon. The place was an old saloon/restaurant which I believe had also been a service station years before. Of course we stopped. Don't recall the brand of beer. Doesn't really matter. Given the time and place, it probably was Coors. We stayed until almost dark before resuming our drive back to San Luis Obispo. DUIs weren't much of a concern back then. Good beer. Good times. Those were my drinking days. I don't always drink NA beer, but when I do, it's O'Doul's.
Upon living in various regions, I found tecate to be the "all around" sixer. But my god does the Narragansett brewing company put out a fantastic set of heavies, strong enough to clean you out but weak enough to get through an entire night.
Used to drink those quart bottles of Schlitz in high school. Sneak out of the house after 11pm by climbing out the window & down the tree in the front yard, meet up behind the bleachers at Parkway Field & drink that cold Schlitz. Stumble home & try like hell not to get busted by pops. Genesee Cream Ale at the keg parties in college. Yah, Genny Scream Ale give you the Genny Blues the next morning. Schaefer and then Ballantine Ale when I got to NYC. Always thought Coors was piss water, Bud was headache beer & PBR was considered crap (it figures that the poseur hipsters like it now). Michelob or Heineken when we had a few bucks in our pockets. Or Molson when someone brought it over the border. Now, it's Dogfish90 & anything from Great Lakes Brewing Company, esp the Eddy Fitz. Starr Hill's Double Plat & too many other great craft beers to mention. Nothing to do with anything but my favorite quote of all time from any athlete is from Frank Howard when he played with the Senators: "How can you swing that lumber tomorrow if you don't pound that Budweiser tonight." You go, Hondo, you go.
I hate to sound like a snob but I just can;t drink cheap beer anymore. I drink Stella Artois. Sometimes I'll drink Red Stripe or Modello. Anything else seems to reek havoc on the colon. Now that I work inside, I don't want to asphyxiate my co-workers with noxious fumes from my keister.
Had way too much Bud Lite and too many wings lastnight.... getting to the break late on account of it. Had to evacuate myself first. Not really a good idea to suit up when your colon is trigger happy
All good beers. Don't recall the taste of Modello but the other two are awesome. When I want to treat myself I get a 12 of red stripe and go to town. My buddy drinks Stella religiously. The Dos Equis is good too, lager or ale depending on the weather. Budweiser ruins my stomach, the bud-mud couldn't be more true of a title. @slash, I drop a deuce every morning about 10 minutes after my coffee. Always made me late for dp, now I just sh!t on the beach. Nothing gets the motor going like a nice sea breeze through the taint!
Negra Modello (with the gold foil wrappers etc) is some classy Mexi beer. I wouldn't call it cheap, but it's delicious even with lime, which is weird for a darker beer. I need to go back to Mexico. Cabo is the ****ttttte.
this thread could take off this summer, likely will since summer is flat How funky is this? http://rainierbeer.com/ West Coast guys, from what I remember this was absolute swill
Today is one of my days off this week, its 12:27pm and I already posted a lost video, did 6 (count em, SIX) laps at the skatepark had a 2 hr log sesh (with no gloves) and am currently enjoying a frosty gansett as we speak. Might go mow the lawn, or work on my chicken coop shortly. Will probably go climb later, followed up by whatever beer is on special at the mews tavern along with my 2 for 1 burgers. YEW! love the days off with cheap brewhas
What a beautiful day to have off, especially during the week when most people are working. Enjoy it mang.
Enjoying it for everyone. There was 10 dudes and 2 girls in the lineup today. It was ankle high, everyone of them is probably enjoying a good cheap beer right now.
Looking forward to this weekend. Savannah is trying to set a Guiness World Record for the largest Pub Crawl in world history. I may go sign up and hop a few pubs. If ya'll haven't been to Savannah, you gotta go. No open container laws, like New Orleans.... You can just crab a brew and stroll through downtown, checking out all the historic scenery. Super Fun town man. The historic waterfront and downtown district is one of the coolest areas in the nation in my opinion. It's only 20 minutes from here, so I go there quite a bit to get away from Island Fever.
+1 on Modello, my personal favorite is Modello Especial, i like the Negra but not as much. That's been a staple of mine along with Yuengling past couple years
